While the new HQ building gives off the impression that La-Z-Boy is cutting edge and changing with the times, it's still in Monroe, Michigan and it's always going to be difficult to attract talent to that town. When you get past the visual appearance... it's still a company very much stuck in the past that offers limited flexibility, mediocre work/life balance (especially if you don't live in Monroe there WILL be a commute), and mediocre middle management.

Very old culture, very limited flexibility in working hours and remote work. 50+ hours is the norm for salaried employees. Very limited upward mobility. Practically no opportunity for substantial raises based on performance. Always looking to leverage employees to save money, i.e. having someone manage employees but have those employees "officially" report to the head of the department to avoid paying the manager for managing people. Senior leadership continuously say they want to make changes and innovate but refuse all change that is proposed even when it will save a substantial amount of money.
