Pros

1) Meaningful Mission: Prior to Employer Direct Healthcare, I spent my career at a number of incredibly large and well-known companies. While they were all perceived as great places to work, they were all lacking the one thing that is most exciting about working for Employer Direct Healthcare. They all lacked the ability to work for a Company that is truly making a meaningful difference on people's lives and wellbeing. The company is dedicated to addressing some of the fundamental issues in the healthcare system in terms of uncontrollable costs, poor quality and lack of transparency. Through the SurgeryPlus solution, the company creates the opportunity for ordinary people to receive affordable, higher quality care for their complex healthcare needs. The ability to work for a company where I know we are positively impacting people's lives is by far the most rewarding aspect of working for Employer Direct. 2) Senior Leadership: The ensemble of individuals assembled on the Company's leadership team is second to none. They are passionate about our mission and work tirelessly to provide a solution worthy of the members who use it. They're all deeply experienced in their areas of expertise and make everyone who works for them better. 3) Opportunity: While in existence since 2011, in many ways, the Company still operates like a start-up, offering significant opportunity for top performers to quickly increase their role and assume additional responsibilities. Hard work is rewarded and people who show promise can quickly rise within the organization.

Cons

Not so much a "con", but good to know going in. Expectations from executives are extremely high. Employer Direct hires and retains extremely talented individuals and those individuals expect the best from employees at every level. For some, these expectations can be overwhelming, but for those who are passionate about the Company's mission and who excel in a fast past environment, these expectations create better, higher skilled employees that are empowered to find ways new ways to positively impact people's lives.

Pros

Employer Direct Healthcare (EDH) is a young, dynamic company that is focused on solving complex healthcare ecosystem problems. The business model and service offering is unique, highly valuable and ingenious for consumers that use it. The technology landscape is all modern stack and very deep build into cloud services. Technology team is very close knit and genuinely respects the talent and value of every team member. They truly drive the philosophy of working with next best talent person around you to ensure everyone keeps learning and growing. Leadership spends a lot of time in coaching and producing opportunities for every one to grow and contribute towards each other success.

Cons

Being a relatively young company, work and responsibilities can be more demanding compared to other places. Priority shift also happens more often than normal. Definitely a great fit for people who like high visibility, recognition and challenges over work volume and dynamic changes.

Pros

Everyday is a new adventure at EDH. Management actively encourages employees to collaborate, problem solve, and create new solutions in order to better meet our goals and fulfill our mission. The executive team is top notch and has the resumes to prove it. The company skews younger in age and the culture is relaxed and fun (weekly bar cart is awesome!!) and everyone has bought into our mission and goals. Couldn't think about working anywhere else.

Cons

The foundation of the culture is hard working, problem solving, and individual initiative, which is a struggle for some from more traditional work environments or those who are not bought in. Parking by the office is difficult (but certainly not impossible with effort) to find.
