      Grateful to have moved on to a truly great company

      Pros

      LCS puts a lot of focus on having a beautiful facility. And it truly is. There are some truly nice people working at LCS.

      Cons

      LCS lacks the professionalism and culture that one should expect to find in a truly great company. For example, I witnessed the CIO literally yell at a room filled with all of the developers once because the software was not at the level prematurely promised to customers at the annual convention. Training in the technology (actual programming training) required to do your job is nonexistent. However, know that you WILL work long hours at LCS frequently just to meet the extremely aggressive estimates completed before adequate knowledge exists about what work is required. You WILL be held to those estimates. Your extra effort will not be noticed or appreciated. It often feels as though you are set up to fail. Additionally, managers frequently stand around openly ridiculing interviews that they completed, former employees and even other current employees and managers. Extremely unprofessional behavior that I have never seen before. Turnover is a revolving door for a reason. This is not a "great place to work".

      At LCS we value our employees and work hard to create a culture that allows each of them to thrive. However, like any other company we do have deadlines. Our Software Developers create their own estimates including setting their own schedules and deadlines for each project. Our Agile software development process allows Developers to have the flexibility they need, while working collaboratively to meet product deadlines that they have defined. Software Developers at LCS seem to enjoy this process, in fact, the turnover rate in our Development department is currently at 5.61%, significantly below industry average. We absolutely do not tolerate ridiculing of any kind and we have policies in place to prevent this. Our President and CEO reinforces the importance of treating all employees, customers and interview candidates with respect. This is one of the many reasons we have been voted one of the Best Places to Work in Cincinnati for the last 5 years. If you witnessed anything other than this, we wish you would have reported it to the Human Resources department so that it could have been addressed appropriately. We are sorry you had a negative experience and wish you the best in your career.

      Pros

      I have been with LCS for awhile now and I still enjoy my job which is so rare these days. I enjoy the culture the company has built, my coworkers are easy to get along and work with, and everyone has the get it done mentality without stepping on one another. It's honestly like a big family even though it's a medium sized company. I can honestly say I like everyone in the company which has never been the case before now. Nothing is perfect and neither is LCS but we definitely work on creating a environment where people want to come to work every day and make it a long term career choice. Another pro is we try to hire within first. This makes for great growth opportunities.

      Cons

      Again, no company is perfect and I think the only problem is lack of complete communication. When something is going on no one can know, only management, which is frustrating. We are never included in the decision making process. Ever. I think in some cases we may have some positive input that management can take into consideration when making the final decision.

      Growing company gives opportunities

      Pros

      Good growth in the company. This gives good opportunities for advancement or moving to different departments. Overall laid back culture, average compensation, decent benefits.

      Cons

      At times the work-load can be stressful. Not hiring employees fast enough to keep up with demands. Leadership can be uneven at times. Sometimes you get different information from different managers. Not always clear who's advice or direction you should follow. (i.e. if your manager's manager asks you to do something, they may not always share it with your manager, causing confusion). Good 401K match. Profit sharing every year.

We are growing and scaling all functions of our business quickly. On average we have hired over 50 people each year for the last several years. We know everyone wants more people in the door as quickly as possible (we do too!) but it is also important to us that we are hiring the right people who will thrive in our culture and provide our customers with the best possible experience.
