Pros

- Good culture - competent managers & coworkers - front loaded 15 day pto, 7 flex days, hybrid 3/2 schedule is a good amount of flexibility for Ohio - some room to grow if you’re a high performer - 3-5% merit raises, low, but consistent - 5% bonus has paid out consistently - the building and grounds are nice and up kept well - chill dress code unless meeting with clients/c-suite

Cons

- poor processes, with little to no documentation on how things work - no one willing to set hard fast rules that are industry standard for tech/software - legacy code with a mountain of tech debt and no sense of urgency to clean it up. This is a key reason why collaboration is halted across departments and deadlines are barely met, as a tough look at the codebase along with changes would create much more efficiency/better product output - do not expect to get paid fair or well here as noted in many other reviews, this is a place to get some YOE & move on - 0 transparency for pay bands or paths to promotion - enterprise software that doesn’t want to pay for internal enterprise tooling. Manually digging up metrics, stretching low tier plans to their limit, no way to see how projects you’ve worked months on have turned out etc - meeting rooms with the cheapest mice/keyboards money can buy - C-suite has openly stated how much hybrid causes ‘scheduling issues’, if another building is purchased expect to RTO or only have the option to WFH on Fridays (if that!) despite our consistent double digit growth

Great Now but Afraid for Future

Pros

Lots of room for growth, regular reviews and pay raises. LCS has been great about caring about employee satisfaction in the past. Pay isn't the highest in the area, but isn't the lowest either. Benefits are pretty good, vacation is pretty good. They are working to improve these things too, as they recently implemented maternity leave. Currently there is a hybrid work option that is absolutely wonderful because it allows flexibility while still giving you time in the office.

Cons

LCS values workplace "culture" a lot which is good, however in recent years the workplace culture seems to be more of a requirement for employees than an option. Hybrid schedule used to be two days in the office a week rotating (half monday tuesday, half wednesday thursday, all hybrid workers off on fridays), but was recently updated to also requiring hybrid workers to come in every other friday. This in itself isn't too terrible, but it does leave worry that they are preparing us to all come in 5 days a week again with no hybrid option if a second building is built to house everyone, despite bragging about the "flexibility they offer" with the hybrid schedule in promotional material. Additionally, the company very much preaches that it values employees and doesn't want to overwork them, but some departments are failing to put this into practice and ignoring employee concerns about impossible deadlines. There is concern that the employee-satisfaction priority at LCS is slowly being overridden by "business needs". Also, we're falling into the AI-generation fad which, while AI can certainly be a useful tool, one of our new AI letter writing tools was introduced in a way that basically said "It will write a letter with all California legal requirements included for you and you don't even have to read it over or edit it" which I cannot even begin to express what a dangerous claim that is.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. The hybrid schedule that was initially implemented was a response to the COVID-19 social distancing requirements and was never intended to be a permanent solution. Once those requirements were lifted, we reassessed our business needs along with our employees needs for flexibility to arrive at our current hybrid schedule, which generously allows employees to work from home 50% of the time. Regarding your mention of Fridays, it is important to clarify that employees have always been expected to work on Fridays, whether remotely or in the office. This policy has not changed. We cannot predict the future, but if you have concerns about our hybrid work schedule, we encourage you to speak with your leadership or HR. As you noted, our campus does not have the capacity to accommodate all employees returning to the office full-time due to our significant growth over the last four years. In terms of workload, we acknowledge that we are a business and performance goals need to be met. However, we are committed to supporting our employees in achieving these goals. If you feel your workload is unmanageable, please discuss this with your manager so we can work together to find a solution.

Pros

Excellent culture - all my coworkers have been very friendly, and (at least in the software development department) managers are more flexible and communicative than at any of my previous roles.

Cons

Benefits and pay are just alright, certainly could be better. Effective manager communication does not seem to be guaranteed across all the different departments.
