Pros

The team that you work with turn into your family. Interesting properties.

Cons

This management company has no idea what they are doing for hotels. Very F&B, restaurant driven with major F&B losses. Core founders of this company have very little true hotel experience. The core values of this company are not followed by executive management or senior leadership at the hotels. They continue to take on management opportunities with new hotels, but yet have mastered running their current hotels successfully. Terrible PTO policy. The company is growing much too quickly with no stable foundation.

Thank you for your honest feedback and detailed comments regarding your previous experience with Makeready. I am disappointed to hear your experience with the company has not been to par. I strongly believe we work very hard to cultivate and foster relationships, both past and present, and it is truly at the core of how we build the foundation of Makeready. With that said, it appears we have not represented ourselves well during your employment with us. We will take your feedback whole-heartedly as a useful tool to improve our communication and our efforts to create an inclusive environment for all team members. If you would like to discuss further, I would love to hear from you at cmagrann@makereadyexperience.com. Thank you, Christine Magrann Chief Operating Officer, Makeready

Pros

Decent benefits, friendly staff at lower levels

Cons

Unless you are someone before makeready took over the property, you are completely expendable and most employment from even the best employees is only 6-10 months. They let go of great workers, higher management doesnt foster and cultivate workers, communication is dreadful, leaders of the company pay mean girl type antics and reward kissing up over actual quality work. Hence the quality of the venue goes down due to rotating employees and low standards of managment.

Thank you for taking the time to give thoughtful feedback about your experience as a team member at Makeready. We take all comments and candid feedback seriously and will continue to work on efforts to improve communication on our decision-making process, which we strive to be swift on. Hospitality is a fast-moving industry and we rely on word-of-mouth traveling just as fast to our benefit - as we seek to hire and retain great people to bring our special experiences to life. I certainly agree team members are not all replaceable, and I personally depend on it to build the foundation of our company as do the like-minded leaders at home office and the properties beyond. While I am disappointed to receive feedback of what may be viewed as less than stellar, I appreciate and respect the honesty and candid words as well as your time. In the note above it appears you are currently a team member with Makeready. If that is accurate, I am always happy to meet or discuss feedback with any team member, and have an open-door policy. If it would improve your experience with us as team member to discuss further, please reach out to me directly at cmagrann@makereadyexperience.com Thank you, Christine Magrann Chief Operating Officer, Makeready

Pros

Good benefits, good pillars in the company

Cons

Corporate hires poor management , bad leaders /leadership on property. All about popularity and not about the actual work you do. Bad leadership, means high turnover. They tend to reward the bad apples, and forget about those hard working folks. Pay outs can be late for bonuses, and goals given months after a quarter closes.

We continue to seek and hire highly talented leaders with a strong commitment to culture. However, we do make mistakes and sometimes we are unsuccessful at our hiring strategies; as do most of us as humans – but we make every effort to edit and react swiftly when we do have a misstep. Our goal is to surround our already talented group of strong leaders and team members with like-minded talent and an enthusiasm for hospitality. At Makeready, we have a strong philosophy of not rewarding “bad apples”. In fact, we hire and fire based on alignment of our Guiding Principles which we hold true to on a daily basis. Our processes continue to need improvement and it is a goal we continue to strive for as a leadership team in whole. I am saddened to hear that your experience with Makeready leadership was viewed as “poor management”. However, your feedback helps us continue to improve on both areas you noted. Thank you for taking the time to use Glass Door as a way to give us feedback as we love the opportunity for improvement.
