Pros

Mastery has welcomed me with opened arms and will always be family to me. I was a student from 7th through 12th grade and to come back be an educator is a full circle moment. Mastery is an organization of opportunity and has a large network of support.

Cons

Limited space in the building. One thing I wanted to bring to Shoemaker was a Puma Pantry, one that could be set up as a hub for students to get supplies, snacks, toiletries, clothes and more. It would a hub where staff and family could donate. I also wanted to find away for students to use merits to purchase items. However, that wasn’t able to happen this school year because there wasn’t a single available room in the building. As testing coordinator, I noticed how this created challenges when it comes to having a secured testing room or even in situations where teachers may need to move classrooms.

Pros

Since returning to Mastery as an employee, the support, guidance, and professional development I’ve received have been truly invaluable. The culture here is exceptional, and it makes coming to work each day a genuinely refreshing experience.

Cons

One of the most rewarding aspects of this role is that I genuinely don’t have any significant cons to share. While every job comes with challenges, I’ve found the support, culture, and opportunities for growth here to far outweigh any day-to-day difficulties. It’s been a consistently positive experience.

Pros

The expecations at Mastery are high. However, you're surrounded by other adults who are working just as hard, and who are focused on creating the best outcomes for students. I worked at Mastery early in my career and left for other opportunities. It has been refreshing to return to Mastery and see how focused the orgainzation is on supporting teachers to drive outcomes in the classroom.

Cons

Work life balance can be difficult to maintain.

We believe in a "high expectations, high support" environment for staff and students, and aim to provide enough resources and guidance for everyone to succeed.
