* The mission of supporting women and family health is as good as it gets * Tech salaries were a bit above market and other benefits were pretty good

Cons

Speaking from the perspective of engineering, leadership is an absolute joke. SVP of Eng. is one of the most uninspiring "leaders" that I have every encountered. He hired a bunch of directors to sit between him and the eng. managers. They are largely ineffective in whatever it is they are supposed to do and do not understand the foundational problems in the existing technology (of which there are many). The engineering org grew quite a bit in terms of headcount during 2023 and some of those engineers had very 'tech bro' tendencies and attitudes which absolutely shattered the culture. Value placed more on delivery than fostering an environment of collaboration. If you are looking for an engineering job you have been warned, Maven will make you consider leaving the industry because its about as bad as I have ever seen.

1. High turnover 2. Employees don't feel valued. 3. Promotions/raises feel like they only happen if they think someone might leave and you are ranked against your colleagues instead of set of organizational standards. 4. Leadership tries to put a positive spin on everything instead of acknowledging when things are not going well. And while speaking up is "encouraged" it feels like it's just to keep track of dissenters and then you feel like you've been blacklisted and things don't actually change.

- in theory, the mission is admirable - some of the people are amazing and inspiring to work with

Cons

- very toxic CEO. I felt personally bullied by the CEO and the people she kept in her close circle - weak health benefits, ironic for a healthcare company but many members of senior leadership get benefits through their spouses (which they openly brag about) - very blame-oriented culture. CEO likes to know who to blame so people are encouraged to name someone if something goes wrong. Terrible place to learn or grow new skills. - no work life balance. Not busy like a "normal" startup, more of a "I want to see people working late so I know they are working late" type of mentality
