Pros
Great lower management, peers, and environment
Cons
I'd say we are going backwards, but that would be a good thing given the company's past. Upper management is clueless, right up to the CEO. For years since before covid, most were allowed to work from home full-time and in most cases productivity improved by doing so. Some buildings were sold during this time, and now that covid is over we are forced to come into the office once a week (a much longer commute for many that lived closer to the sold buildings). We are told it is to foster a "collaborative work environment", when it is most definitely to justify owning the remaining offices. Promoting from within has led to a team of unqualified people at the helm making bad decisions resulting in the need for layoffs. For 50 years we took pride in never having layoffs, until now. If we were going to go back on a promise, we should have stopped forcing people to drive multiple hours each way for little to no gain, and sold some more buildings instead of getting rid of people who were told we would never lay anyone off. Telling us our bonuses are being cut and laying people off while the CEO and executives get a 6-figure raise is probably not the way to go.
