Pros

Free product every month. Health insurance is outstanding. Products good. However, they just take products off of the shelf and have their scientists deconstruct them and then add a different component and then Melaleuca calls it their own and "launches" the "new" product. Because they are a private company, they can do this. The FDA doesn't govern their products.

Cons

Upper management is a "good old boy" system. Having new ideas, innovative technology ideas, or thinking differently than management = firing or being "managed out" (as their human resource department refers to it.) Cycle over new employees every 2-3 years to get rid of middle management and earned raises. Have fired or are firing many right before their performance bonuses were to be paid out. Poor management style which creates an atmosphere of distrust, fear, and disgust.

Pros

The CEO is incredibly good at rowing. He holds 2 world records for the 100m row in the 65-69 and 70+ age divisions. He rows at company events. He has seen to it that there are half a dozen rowing machines at the fitness center, and several more scattered in rooms throughout the main office building. From time to time he’ll throw down rowing challenges and take you to lunch if you beat him. He just made a public announcement that he would step down as CEO if he failed to clinch the world record for the 70+ division, because if you can’t set a world record for rowing as a 70 year old - how can you possibly be fit to run a billion dollar company? If you’re looking for a company that is passionate about rowing, THIS is the place for you! Seriously, the company that makes the rowing machines has nothing on Melaleuca when it comes to passion about rowing!

Cons

If having a CEO with a bizarre obsession for rowing isn’t the main thing you’re looking for in an employer, this is an absolutely miserable place to work. Low and stagnant pay, way behind in terms of technology (just check out their website - hasn’t changed in 20 years), terrible culture of control and intimidation from upper management, extremely bureaucratic and political, over-priced gimmicky products, and just plain weird. It’s all about appearances. Over promise, under deliver - to customers, employees, whoever. Always be selling. You may be required to attend FB live events about rowing if there aren’t enough people who volunteer to show support for the CEO’s public display of his dominant rowing prowess.

Pros

You'll obtain skills that will be useful in your career. The home office is pretty nice.

Cons

All kinds of scandals, from the executives and other top management down. Inter-office affairs are rampant, but they keep it hush hush. If you're looking work here, you better hide your kids, hide your wife, and hide your husband, because they'll be sleeping with everyone up there. Ha, but in all seriousness, it's terrible, you'll see it happen regularly and HR will run around trying to make everyone sign confidentiality agreements to not say anything about these types of situations. Melaleuca worries more about it's perception than it does it's employees. The pay for just about every position there is well below the standard market. They try to convince you that you won't be able to find a job anywhere else in your career field that will pay you as much as they will. It's a pretty filthy tactic actually. To be perfectly honest, for a company who's motto is to "enhance the lives of those we touch by helping them reach their goals", they don't really do much to enhance their employees lives or help them reach their goals.
