Pros

Good co-workers, central location, holiday bonus, good PTO accrual, decent benefits and decent pay. Depending on your training location and trainer, you will learn a lot. Free coffee. Break room with amenities. Free Wifi. Casual wear. Flexible schedule every other week (work four extra hours four out of five days and have half a day).

Cons

When I first started, this seemed like a great company to grow your roots in. Now, though, there is too high a workload, unrealistic goals and no incentives. If you don't keep an open mind or are not flexible, then you will not do well here. The work cannot be completed within a 40 hour week. While overtime is great, some of us actually have families to spend time with. Too many claims system, which are flawed and slow, yet you are expected to perform well. Nepotistic environment. If you are on the favorable side, expect growth. If you are not, expect to stay where you are until you are forced out.

Pros

Jeans for dress and some holidays off are a perk.

Cons

I worked at this company for over 13 years. I endured the constant excuses for the unrelenting and heavy workload. I believed the pep talks and succumbed to the pleas for extra effort at the end of the year--when the financial reports are finalized. I really have nothing but grief over the whole experience. It seems the whole process of hiring, training (indoctrination on interpreting insurance law), overseeing, controlling salaries, and--dare I say--letting employees go has been perfected. Everyone who works for this company should think twice about what you hear from your superiors, and never ever turn your back or a blind eye to what you see or hear. You will eventually realize there is a whole lot of 1/2 truths mixed with statements that are made. I regret to say that HR offers no real help when issues inevitably arise. If you can, stay away from this company. At the very least, read Glassdoor.com's article on the signs that indicate you are not working for a good company and you might save yourself a lot of grief!

Pros

There is a holiday bonus.

Cons

The claims department, and consequently as time goes on, the company as a whole, is a disaster of epic proportions. Protocol is inconsistent, incentive and motivation are non-existent, and employees are fleeing en masse. Recent salary hikes were done on a hush basis because they know they underpay the staff they rely on the most and that they are barely bringing their pay up to standard for the industry. New initiatives are announced, then abandoned, and no one can keep up. The workload has been referenced in every other review, but you'd still be shocked by the expectations. There are some managers that care about the people they oversee, but most see their staff as numbers. Of course the volume causes workers to fall behind, underwhelm, and flounder, and when this happens you are threatened and made to feel responsible for the company's failings. So experienced, valuable employees leave, new hires come in, and the cycle continues, leading to a perpetually under-staffed and over-stressed environment. In short-this job is not for people who care about their own well-being.
