Pros

I have made some very good lifelong friends througout my years with the company.

Cons

Upper management doesn't care about their employees. Last year we went through a system change. The system was and still is slow and inefficient. The work load was and still is unmanageable. When employees expressed their concerns, they were told things would get better. Fast forward almost a year later and things have not gotten better. We have lost so many great employees due to the lack of empathy from upper management. They say "voice your concerns" "we cant change things unless you speak up." So when employees speak up about the unrealistic expectations and unmanageable work load upper management responds with "work faster and smarter." When employees speak up about wanting to get paid more or they will look elsewhere or accept a job elsewhere, we are told our salaries are in line with other companies. In comparison to other companies the pay is way below average unless you are a supervisor or in upper management. Good and loyal employees are not rewarded. There is no room for growth. They are not replacing people when they quit, they are just expecting the rest of their employees to do the work of 3 people for the same amount of money.

Pros

Co-workers are great and act as a support net for when you want to jump.

Cons

Even though HC tells you to come to them with issues, what they really mean is they have an obligation to bring that information to your manager. So you will be blacklisted and looked at as a troublemaker. Yet another round of layoffs. At least the executives started chipping away at salaried managers and supervisors. There are still some people who made it through but it's a start. Streamlining is important but burning out the survivors is just stupid. Mercury preaches that all of our success is due to our employees but as soon as the shareholders, execs, and the over compensated board wants more money they have these layoffs. It TOTALLY affects morale. Nobody is going to their manager or HC and telling them that they feel stressed and like they are under a microscope to be terminated next. But the reality is everyone is scared for their jobs. Nobody is safe at Mercury. If you are thinking about joining this team, think again. I saw a lot of good employees get laid off on Friday, April 29th, 2016. The employees came to work thinking nothing was wrong, everything is good, it's Friday, yay yay. Then they're called in and told their position is no longer required. This is the third insurance company I am working for in my career. I thought the grass was greener here. OMG! This place sucks the worst!!

Decent pay, nice co-workers

Pros

Decent pay, relaxed dress code, holiday bonus, steady hours Co-workers are nice for the most part

Cons

Not enough time in 8 hours to give every claim 100% in the last 6 months the volume of work has gotten much higher. Very few opportunities for advancement in the last few years especially. Upper management constantly harps on lowering costs, but doesn't set the example: filling management positions that aren't necessary, etc. CEO means well, but apparently doesn't know how bad morale has gotten.
