      Micromanagement

      Pros

      Most coworkers are hardworking and conscientious, which is why the micromanagement is so incomprehensible. Until recently Mercury gave their adjusters the chance to do a good job on the files. So, they were very capable compared to Farmers and the like.

      Cons

      In order to "be more efficient" Mercury implemented its fourth claims system. The new system is so difficult to work with, everyone is behind. Now, everyone has unlimited overtime just to catch up. And the old claims still need to be worked on the old systems. So much for efficiency. Supposedly a family company. Depends upon your definition of family. There's no real upward mobility.

      Pros

      Hardworking Intelligent people. Christmas Bonus, sick and vacation time. Benefits, although employee cost keeps rising.

      Cons

      Unrealistic work demands. Claim loads too high and they want cheap settlements. They use threats of reprisal and punishment as a motivator for adjusters. They will take one of their 'star" adusters and load them up with too much until they crumple under the pressure then they find a new "star".

      Pros

      People are great, flexible time off, interesting work.

      Cons

      Appears management is getting pressured by admin in some way. All of a sudden our future at the company depends on meeting certain numbers some of which seem unattainable.
