Pros

Excellent teamwork between coworkers, close-knit family on floor, decent benefits, nice facility.

Cons

Low pay for nursing, senior leadership worried about the almighty dollar, sacrificing patient care as a result. 20+ Hospitalists recently quit citing patient safety concerns, continuous high nurse turnover, with very few experienced nurses remaining, high infection & fall rates, managers/directors given no ability to actually manage their departments without having to seek permission from CNO for every little minute issue, low morale, ER/ICU often on divert, no confidence in senior leadership.

Pros

Some of the co-workers have become great friends.

Cons

The pay-lowest paying hospital around. Management is pure evil, they will get rid of you eventually to hire cheaper staff so don't think they value you. They will throw you under the bus. They only care about the $$$. It's a huge cabal. They don't care about the poor or underserved. The "catholic values" only serve for financial gain. The cafeteria food sucks and it's overpriced. Cheap supplies to work with. We didn't even get blankets on our floor because they were too expensive to launder. Understaffed frequently because of the budget. Manager could care less if it was safe or not. Housekeeping cleaned rooms sloppily because they were understaffed and on a time limit. I could go on and on but you will see.

Pros

Thorough training, great philosophy on paper, good team work with co workers

Cons

Will re-organize and send nurses home when shift is almost over. Leaving the unit in chaos. Will put nurses on standby and then call in 1hour later. So focused on saving a dollar employee and patient needs are not considered.
