Pros

Working at Mile High Behavioral Healthcare (MHBHC) has been an amazing experience. The organization is deeply invested in my professional development, offering consistent support and providing opportunities for growth in areas I’ve expressed interest in. MHBHC truly values my input and creates a safe, encouraging environment for me to design client-centered events and programs, enabling me to address any gaps I identify and work toward solutions. Upper management is incredibly supportive and always accessible, fostering a culture of openness. The leaders at MHBHC are some of the best in the field, and I look forward to continuing to learn from them as I progress in my career. I’m also incredibly appreciative of the support MHBHC has offered my family during difficult times, which speaks volumes about the organization’s caring culture. What stands out most to me is how MHBHC’s staff meet clients with compassion, using a whole-person, trauma-informed approach. They are constantly finding new ways to help our clients achieve their own vision of recovery. Overall, MHBHC continuously challenges me to expand my thinking and deepen my understanding of the behavioral health field. I’m truly grateful to be part of such a dynamic and supportive team.

Cons

While there are many benefits to working at Mile High Behavioral Healthcare (MHBHC), One of the key aspects of working in the behavioral health field in general is the ongoing need for self-improvement and self-care. Striking a balance between personal growth and professional responsibilities can be tough, especially given the demanding nature of the work. Maintaining that balance is essential to providing the best care to clients, but it does require consistent attention and effort. Open communication is vital at MHBHC, and utilizing supervision and support from your management team is crucial in addressing these challenges while advancing in your career.

Other professionals that are equally abused and underpaid.

Cons

Too many to name. Some highlights; - Hiring extremely inexperienced program mangers in order to tow the line for the corrupt CEO and higher management team - A truly delusional CEO that in no way, shape, or form should ever be allowed to work in any non-profit - Low pay and no funding for programming....mysteriously - I repeatedly asked for official training for certain things and was repeatedly denied - Every. Single. Location. SMELLS. As Mile High chose to lay-off any form of housekeeping some years ago, every employee is required to assist in the basic upkeep of the facilities, which of course no one has time for. I felt like a parent repeatedly asking their children to pretty please clean up and was repeatedly told I was being aggressive and ridiculous. - You only have to look at the hilariously pathetic toilet paper this place uses to understand how little it thinks of it's staff and clients. They even send out a yearly email to explain why the TP is so incredibly cheap and horrible. Don't do anything that requires you to wipe or be treated with basic human dignity here! - Horrifically transphobic staff at every level. I quit on-site after 6 terrible months. A therapist with the Element team decided to purposefully scream my incorrect pronouns at me after I simply asked him to practice not calling everyone "girl." This person stayed employed for another 9 months and was only terminated for working from home and lying about it. I'm astonished this person is a licensed therapist who was allowed to see patients for that long. - The CEO decided to yell at a fellow staff for not scooping the snow off the sidewalk at Kalamath house. This staff was not told it was their job to scoop snow (because it wasn't) and had just had surgery that prohibited them from doing so. These are the only types of "issues" ceo Bob cares to address. - It's also super racist! At one point this company got the genius idea to hire a cis white woman to run the Trans Center. This woman berated a multiracial colleague and called her an expletive while actively working in the trans center. - Does way more harm to vulnerable populations repeatedly, systematically, and prolifically. - No trauma informed training provided to staff - No feedback is welcomed. EVER. - Lots of shady activities concerning the work environment on any level you can imagine. If you are desperate enough to work here record absolutely everything. Write an email about every single conversation. Keep a doc file with dates and times of when you witnessed various violations. This place keeps operating because it pointedly keeps traumatizing already marginalized staff into quitting and counts on our silence. I have had many reviews removed since my time there.
