Tone-Deaf, Rudderless Leadership

Pros

None - Mimecast leadership seems intent of stripping away all pros it once had

Cons

Treats AI like a people-replacement, not a tool Chaotic yearly layoffs Whole scale company direction changes every 6 months ELT revolving door, likely leading to the above points Constantly buying new technology - no longer an innovator or leader in the cybersecurity space

Pros

Engineers/ICs, especially those from Mimecast of yesteryears Nice office at an easy location (if you have car) Fair amount of wfh (although hybrid) Decent food and amenities

Cons

Recent crop of leadership (except maybe the product lead who is pretty good) most of whom were brought in as personal contacts of an ex-CTPO (how much narcissistic one has to be to have held both the CTO and CPO title!). Some crop of leadership who were brought in via acqui-hire even though their startup has a struggling tech (the ex-CTPO easily got swayed by quick and smooth talking techies) Really bleak future (go to cybersecurity subreddit and ask/search for comparison between Mimecast and its competitors like Abnormal etc)

All Bark, No Bite

Pros

Had great office accommodation’s and a decent culture in past years. If you can outlive the impending exodus you could end up with a decent title.

Cons

The North American sales teams are led by longtime Mimecast employees who lack external sales experience. Each year, quotas become increasingly unrealistic. Leadership frequently reshuffles territories, segments, and sales strategies to create the illusion that targets are attainable. There is no structured training or sales enablement in place. Most veteran managers have fewer than three years of actual selling experience and lack the skills needed to navigate today’s market effectively. The expectation that the new products and acquisitions are going to change the game is an interesting story.
