Diversity, empathy lacking from the top down

Pros

Free lunch mon-thurs when the office was open. Cold brew. Health insurance but costs keep going up.

Cons

The lack of diversity in Mimecast is sad. How many POC/BIPOC are in positions of leadership? How many hold C-level positions? How many women who are POC are in these positions? The answer for all three is sadly very very low, or zero. Mimecast is "slow on the uptake" when it comes to inclusion yet our "Employee Engagement" emails make it seem like Mimecast is somehow a progressive company when in reality there is so much work they need to do. Who knows if they will actually take a hard look at themselves and do the work that needs to be done to be "diverse" and "inclusive" - words that seem to get thrown around a lot around here but ultimately ring hollow. Secondly, Service Delivery is going down the drain. Micromanaging is at an all time high, nepotism is rampant, under-qualified folks are promoted because they kick and scream and threaten to quit - not because of ability, competence, or leadership skill. Folks in the trenches have to fend for themselves because support from their management is nonexistent. This all makes for low morale among the department, and burnt out employees are jumping ship when they realize there is no upward mobility. Mimecast was once a good company but I can't say in earnest that this is true anymore.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback, which we most certainly value, especially on a topic as important as diversity and inclusion. In April, we hired a Global Diversity and Inclusion Manager to guide us in our efforts to expand and implement programs and processes that enable us to foster a diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace culture that accurately reflects our core values. In addition to focusing on diversity in our hiring processes and professional development offerings, we are expanding our efforts to educate employees on unconscious bias and inclusive leadership training, encouraging all employees to be a part of the conversation, and building a multi-year D&I strategy with metrics to increase underrepresentation that will hold us to account. We are also proud to actively support and develop employee resource groups (ERGs) for all Mimecasters, including groups supporting people of color, LGBTQ+, and women at Mimecast. Like many, we recognize that we have work to do in this space, which is why we have made diversity and inclusion such a priority today and moving forward. Rest assured that our focus on a diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace culture represents a sustained commitment that we have made to more accurately reflect and commit to our core values. Thank you for taking the time to submit your review and provide transparent feedback.

Smoke and Mirrors

Pros

Free lunch M-Thurs, nice office space, some WFH flexibility, and some good people in the trenches.

Cons

As others have mentioned ad nauseam, you're either a yes man or not. No room for growth or creative autonomy - you're either aboard their rocket ship or not. Promotions given to toxic personalities, and it's sad to see that many of these toxic personalities are in upper management. Siloed teams that lead to fear and lack of trust. Poor communication. Morale was very low when I left.
