Pros

This job has its rewards for what you do for these clients BUT you aren't acknowledged from the higher management. COWORKERS ARE GREAT! GREAT FRIENDSHIPS

Cons

This job will dig you to the ground. You put so much of your time heart and soul really for the benefit of your clients improvements. The upper management is a joke and a lot of AMAZING THERAPISTS HAVE QUIT BECAUSE OF THE POLITICS. A LOT!!! I quit and sadly watched handfuls and handfuls of amazing talented therapists including OT'S AND Speech Therapists quit. It's disgusting and really really sad. The turnover rate is worse than the restaurant business....

Pros

Worked in a center location, the program supervisors, the clinic supervisors, the lead therapists were all wonderful to work with, they cared about each child and saw the potential in each. You get to work with a large variety of children and see children all over the spectrum. Seeing children achieve things their parents never thought possible is really neat. Good stepping stone in the human service field.

Cons

It is a high burn out field so some staff do come and go which can be hard on staff morale, but the good ones stay. Kids do have behaviors, you can get hit/bit/have to change children. Which should be expected as a therapist but some seem to struggle with this. There is a large learning curve, it isn't a job you will understand overnight.
