I do not recommend a career with Mittera. Here are some of the reasons why. On the outside, Mittera looks like a dream job and a dream company, but that is simply a facade. Mittera is a multi-million dollar company who works in branding, advertising and printing for big and small countries across the nation. This is all great and looks amazing in a portfolio. However, that's about where it stops. The issue is not the work medium or the clients, but the way the company is run. Just like other big companies, Mittera has fallen into corporate greed and a thirst for power (acquisition of smaller companies.) The heads of the company only look out for the interest of the investors, the company name and outward appearance and will do anything and everything they can to make the company seem successful and profitable to the outside world. The harsh reality is that the company treats all employees as numbers and profit making robots rather than real humans with lives.
Since my start at Mittera, healthcare costs have gone up every year. For anyone with a family, it's not even worth having because the plans are so high. Most married employees are reliant on their spouses company for healthcare (yes, it really is that bad.) If you are single the plans are affordable, but increase in cost each year (pre-covid-19) sucks. Even though the cost of healthcare goes up every year pay has not. In my years with Mittera, I have never seen so much as a cent increase in pay. Mittera loves to promote with title changes as often as possible, so they can assign more responsibilities while keeping the the wages static. Additionally, the only time I have ever seen anyone get a raise is if they are a crucial employee, threatening to leave. Mittera also has poor working conditions overall. While the flow has improved significantly since my start, the hours can be long and there is no mandated lunch break. Sadly, because of the way the company is run, company culture seems to expect that you work through your lunch breaks (on the clock) and that you shouldn't take vacation. Sick pay doesn't exist and vacation time is taboo. It's very common here to see 10 to 12 hour days and 50 to 60 hour work weeks, with the only reward being the overtime pay for hourly employees. If you are salaried, you can expect the same hours with no overtime or bonuses.
However, my biggest gripe with the company is that they keep all employees in the dark. Being a large company, Mittera owns multiple companies and has many US locations. Even though Mittera has a quarterly newsletter, employees do not get updated regarding our company's financial standings. Not only that, but the company heads will randomly purchase new companies without any notification to current employees, only sending out company emails after a deal is finalized. Employees have zero stake or say in the company's decisions and they are constantly kept in the dark, anything having regarding Mittera's financial well-being.
