Employees are being overworked. I would come in for a full day of work, 8 hours and I would either have to stay an extra 2-3 hours later or I would have to work when I have arrived home. Also, many employees worked 40 hour weeks and management and leads expected employees to work on the weekend as well. Employees did not get compensated in any way for all of the extra hours unless you count an occasional free coffee. There is not a chance for a lot of growth in the company, only certain people get an opportunity to advance. You can work so hard and put in a lot of hours but that can go unrecognized. You can also express you want a chance to grow in your position and learn more but that is annoyed. The work can be repetitive as well, same thing almost every day. Employees are underpaid, the salaries do not reflect the amount of hours and dedication employees put in on top of their prior experience.

I got laid off from Mothership, along with 21 other people, last week. Greg Berlin informed us we were getting laid off through an email, in which he didn't even thank us for our work at the company. It was abrupt, unexpected, and cold. Mothership is a disorganized workplace that is constantly shuffling teams and clients around. They say that their people are their greatest asset, but they treat their lower-level employees (strategists) like they're disposable, which is why there's high turnover. They also barely pay their strategists enough to live in DC, and use the perks they give as an excuse to pay terribly.
