Pros

Knowledgeable employees thru out IT

Cons

Currently outsourcing thru all IT department. No raises for the last 3 years . Moral is at a low thru out all IT. Understaffed in many areas of IT. Health insurance has been changed back and forth every year and increased price to employees.

Pros

Great benefits, great pay. Education assistance is awesome here. Working in the CTICU, I see a lot of rare cases and lives changed from world renowned surgeons.

Cons

The saying "old nurses eat their young" is true here. I have been an ICU nurse for 5 years, and here almost 1 year. Man, have I never felt so put down by the staff on this unit. I know I'm a good nurse, the providers trust my judgement, my patient's always give me praise and thanks for great care, but sometimes when giving report to the oncoming nurse, you'd think I killed their dog! The attitudes of the older nurses on my unit are unbelievable. I have seen several people come and go for that reason and management is nice, but they're extremely unorganized.

Pros

1199 thats it. The fact I have to write at lease write 5 words? What if there is no pros?

Cons

I swear some of these comments have to be written by managers. Everyone in my department hated there job, they always complained about it even in front of the managers. I feel like I was in a classroom with children, the gossiping, the politics and because most of them are 1199 they didn’t care. They was not going to get fired. Schedules varies but they promise you more hours before you get hired and they lie. You will never get promoted in this department even if you deserve too. People there have been waiting years just to go from part time to full time. Most people in the department don’t have higher education and are going to do this until they retire. That is why they are so comfortable doing as they please etc. Sometimes they won’t answer calls just to gossip. The week I was going to give my two weeks because this wasn’t for me was the same time my two managers dismissed me. I hated being there, they knew I knew this wasn’t for me (we can agree on that). One didn’t give me no reason and the other said I can do better than this. They say they try to do it as discreetly as possible. LIE! They will do it during your shift in front of the staff and tell you to pack your stuff like a dog and to leave. How embarrassing. I didn’t care because I knew the job was not for me, I have higher education. This department made me not even want to work in healthcare. This situation made me open my eyes to a lot of the politics in healthcare besides I got a better job in NYP!
