Pros

There are some great people and overall the company is supportive of employees. It's been around a long time and isn't going anywhere. People in the community think highly of the hospital and many employees seem happy and proud.

Cons

Top people make all the decisions. It's not what you know, it's who you know. Lots of favoritism in some areas. Certain departments are dead ends and others get lots of attention. Employees that are rude, incompetent and have bad attitudes don't get fired, they just get more power.

NKCH used to be a great place to work. In recent years nurses are very unhappy and most are seeking employment elsewhere. Nursing management micromanages, and gives lip service with a smirk to autonomy. Nurses are routinely thrown under the bus when trying to be patient advocates. Don't expect respect. Administration demonstrates a lack of regard for professional nurses. I used to LOVE working here. Now it's all I can do to drag myself back each day.

Great work culture. Nice pace.

They really underpay the staff. Has been this way for a long time. They keep cutting back on benefits. Recently killed the pension program.
