Pros

Surrounded by Smart people, Dynamic work environment

Cons

Culture and Core values were the company's most important assets. Unfortunately these are disappearing day after day. When I joined, National Instruments was driven by innovation. Today the only interest today seems to be reducing operating expenses and at whatever cost. No matter what you do, you're seen as a number.

Pros

1. Quality of talent recruited is something others draw inspiration from. 2. Pay right out of college is good. 3. Great brand name. 4. Field Sales have the freedom to plan and execute.

Cons

1. Quality of talent has been dwindling because of changes in the hiring strategy. 2. Pay plateaus after a 2-3 years. Appraisals are meager. Promotions are painfully employee driven. HR has no say whatsoever. You perform well and don't get promoted at times(they tag it to the overall company performance). 3. No employee engagement or training. Management expects you to make a business plan but doesn't have a training and ramp-up plan for the new ones joining the sales team.

Pros

1. Great work-life balance. 2. The company takes great care of employees during business trips. 3. Being a small team, people are well connected. 4. If you're in the right role, company sponsors an annual trip to the Austin headquarters (You could take off for more days and visit other places as part of the trip). 5. Technologically progressive in terms of products.

Cons

1. Management lacks maturity at times in cases of decision-making. 2. Employees leaving the organisation are treated poorly. 3. Sales Management does a shabby job of quota-setting and performance evaluation. 4. Lack of good mentorship within the organisation. 5. Employees perceive unfair treatment by managers.
