Pros

Some of the best plugins and products around! Great colleagues and working atmosphere.

Cons

Too many meetings for a meeting to meet about the meeting! Deceitful management with no heads up on upcoming issues! Customer base is made up of self-entitled false egos which has driven the original model that NI had in the ground. TOo much emphasis on trying to please the music novices of the worl today instead of focusing on its core based consumers. Listen to your customers!!!

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. In our 23 years, we've evolved from being a software company to an ecosystem company to now adding a platform vision that will enable everyone to make music. We appreciate change is difficult. That said, it is change that has helped NI become the company it is today. As part of our transformation, we are also working on transforming the way we work: become more collaborative, transparent and effective.

Chaos

Pros

Free coffee, office dogs, great coworkers

Cons

The exec team doesn’t seem to trust anyone but themselves. They hire bright people and try to set up the right environment but instead of listening to customer feedback as well as employee feedback, they decide that their own instincts are correct and dictate strategy. And when that strategy doesn’t work out, there’s chaos and mass layoffs.

Pros

Talented, skilled peers. Good benefits package. Work with musicians.

Cons

They hired professionals while rapidly growing but did not let people actually do the responsibilities they were hired for. Dictator like decisions were made at the top that were not data driven or user centric. Pivots were made on a whim and customers were adversely impacted. The executive team let a promising new product fail and layed off people. Soon before this, they restructured teams in a way that made no logical sense, moving subject matter experts away from where they could help the product most. No respect was given to long term team members who built the product from the start. If anyone disagreed with the new direction, they were fired. Experts were not consulted for strategic decisions and middle management was ineffective. Instead of letting the people they hired help drive the company forward, they buried them.

We appreciate your feedback and would never want you to feel insecure in your working environment. As you mentioned, the focus on employee perks and benefits package was a big priority for the People Team in 2017 and 2018. Those initiatives were put in place specifically to help our employees know how valued they are. We know that as a result of decisions made based on our business strategy there has been an ebb and flow of changes across the company. We thank you for sharing your feedback on the methods of communication around these changes and want you to know that we take it into account moving forward as we look toward the year ahead in 2019.
