Pros

The work environment at NetLine is generally comfortable and nurturing, although I do not work in the Sales department - there is likely more pressure and less nurturing there. In the other departments, slow advancement through self-enrichment (education, skill growth, etc) is mostly encouraged. Many of the non-sales jobs require some level of technical skill or knowledge. This is valuable for an employee who is looking to improve their skills, although not necessarily for quick advancement. Loyalty/longevity to the company is rewarded, and several employees have been with the firm from 5 to over 10 years. The atmosphere at the company is generally friendly and socializing is encouraged, as long as work is completed correctly and on time. Again, several employees have been with the firm for long periods, and those folks are all pretty nice and get along well with most everyone. Company culture is relaxed. While this is still a small to medium sized company, it's no Google in regards to perks and other intangibles (not many are!), but there are still plenty to be had. Regular happy hours with food/drink, yearly picnic (including flying in out of town workers), subsidized sodas, mild profit sharing, etc. etc.

Cons

While the company is profitable in the business space that it is in, as an Internet business there are still many processes that, while still functional, are becoming antiquated. On one hand, the production line needs to be constantly available with no downtime - but some updates might move more quickly with a firmer/more focused path. There are some times where a lot of research and/or work will go into a project without bearing fruit. This is not atypical, as not everything is a known quantity. But there is a sense of wasted time on occasion. There are times when a key member who leaves the company is not announced until nearly the last possible moment. I believe this had been in order to maintain morale, but in reality those who follow need all of the brain dump time with the employee that they can get. It's getting better. If you are looking for a company with rapid advancement, this is not really the place. Again, I'm not in Sales, so that may have different benchmarks. If you stick around and do a good job, you'll have a good, solid place to work with upticks in pay just about every year. But it's not really a place to climb the ladder (unless you move from here to another company). So this last bit will either be a pro or con, depending on your personality.

Pros

I enjoy working at NetLine in Los Gatos. I got two job offers at the same time but chose NetLine because the I liked the people - I thought the interview & hiring process was very professional for a small company. The company is privately owned, so there's no pressure from VC's or shareholders, and the company has survived this way for 17 years! There's a profit sharing scheme for eligible employees, and it pays out a modest amount most quarters. It's a pretty low stress environment. It's a great location, on the edge of Lake Vasona, great for a lunchtime walk or run. The employees are friendly and easy going. Free fruit on Tuesday, free drinks at the lounge on Fridays after work, and free appetizers once a month.

Cons

Some departments do seem to have high turnover (Sales & the Call Center) but the remaining departments don't. It's a small company so there a few opportunities for advancement and growth.

Pros

Nice location, easy going people, lifestyle company. What you see is what you get,

Cons

Good if you want to just put your head down and work, only the trusted few can have ideas. The folks that stay are not ambitious, happy to do what they have always done.
