Pros

There are some really amazing people who still work at New Home Star. I hope for their sakes that this company can rebound from the recent implosion.

Cons

Make sure that you sort all of these reviews by MOST RECENT, as New Home Star USED to be a great place to work with many OLD rave reviews. But times have changed and the train has gone off the tracks. This company does not practice what they preach nor do they adhere to its own KPIs. Since April, there has been a mass exodus of top performers at this company, both in sales and at corporate. If you are solely money-motivated, this could possibly be a great place for you. But it comes with a price; if you have any type of life, this company will suck away your soul. You will learn the lingo and join the New Home Star cult. Work-life balance is absolutely non-existent. Prepare to be on call 24/7 for New Home Star as well as your builder partner with little-to-no thanks or appreciation. Still, understand that by working at NHS, you will be earning wayyyyyy below industry standard to do the job. You will also be required to do a lot of extra work such as quarterly business plan presentations, semi-annual teleblitzes (AFTER HOURS if you're on the east coast), competition studies, watching outdated training videos and posting on "the portal." Speaking of "the portal," the corporate intranet, New Home Connect, is a highly- touted tool but it has lost its sense of professionalism. The portal is filled with memes and silly questions in a thirsty effort to gain points as opposed to sharing in order to enrich others. Competition study reports do not work even after the sales associates put in hours of time completing them for their builder partners. Another way that New Home Star wastes your time. Upper management sits in their ivory tower and is completely out of touch with what's happening in the field. They will sell you a pipe dream and then never be present. Managers and directors spend their days with mindless busy work and reporting that is obviously not reviewed by anybody at corporate. If corporate read these reports, this mass exodus never would have happened. If you're looking to move into leadership, New Home Star preaches 80% promotion from within but that number seems pretty skewed based on the Manager in Training (MIT) Program. These MITs are treated as true management, unlike the current Selling Sales Managers who have worked their tails off to make their way up the career ladder. You're more than welcome to come in from the outside with limited experience, but will be asked to jump through hoops to move up if you come in as a sales associate. In many cases, they will hire from outside before promoting from within unless, of course, you want to relocate to the middle-of-nowhere USA. I did not plan to write this review, but I just heard that a great salesperson in my local division recently left the company after trying to move to a new division for a shorter commute (1.5 hours+ EACH WAY) because there were "no job opportunities" and now see TWO available about a week after she's gone. They met her but would rather hire from the outside before giving her a chance. Not surprising though because New Home Star goes out of its way to crush your soul, break you down and make you feel like you're not worthy. The reality is, you're MORE worthy. You will never be good enough for this company and they will make it known after you join the cult. Don't waste your time. You are worth more than this company can offer.

Pros

Great entry point to the industry Great training

Cons

Unless you are with some of their larger builder partners, you run the risk of your contract being canceled. They recently changed their commission structure and their business is in turmoil with high turnover from both sales and management. I am a top producer and have worked with several builder partners. I've won national awards and I have seen nothing but changes for the worst.

Pros

I can't think of a single one- they are not true to their word and use shady hiring practices... they will lie and make promised they have no intention of keeping just to get bodies on the roster.

Cons

Liars and scammers. Small group of egomaniacs out for themselves, these people are NOT legit! Run...

This review is not at all indicative of our company and its leadership. The accusation of lying doesn't match up with our strategy or intent. To say that New Home Star wants to "just get bodies on the roster" is so far from what hundreds of our team members have experienced while going through our five-touch selection process. When I read "liars and scammers and egomaniacs", I honestly wonder if you even posted this review for the right company. Had you said, "imperfect and often-failing", I would know you had the right group. We are imperfect and we do fail often. I am sincerely sorry if we failed you. If you worked at New Home Star though, you would not question our intent.
