Pros

None. Job sounds too good to be true. This is a sales job.

Cons

This company is a lie. Nothing like the job description. You are not a "talent specialist," you are a "sales person," who has to sale a $500 plan to innocent people. You lie to people about making their dreams a reality, but all this company wants is people's money. No one should have to pay to attend castings. Also if you don't book people--you don't get paid. This is a commission job, so you don't get paid hourly. Moreover, this company is doing wrong. STAY AWAY!!!

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us and for your hard work at our company. We appreciate you explaining how you feel we can improve your former position at Nine9 and happy to share with you that we are already working on implementing some of the suggestions you mentioned. I'll ensure that our highest level of leadership within our company is aware of your review and has a chance to read it as well so we can continue to be the best employer possible. Our passion has always been in helping talent to build successful careers and you have our deepest apologies if we did not make you feel like you were a part of that mission. We do offer a paid service, but to be clear we aren't charging anyone to attend castings. Many of the duties of our Talent Specialists are directly involved in the open call and enrollment process so the role is currently oriented to explain the cost and benefits of what we do to talent. Yes, this is a commission-based position and we are sorry to hear that you don't feel the compensation offered for your work was adequate. However, we should never, for any reason, encourage anyone to lie and do not condone this practice. If this is what was taking place during your time with us, we'd like to hear about this situation and would greatly appreciate an email about the matter at hr@nine9.com. Once again, thank you for all of the work you've done with us. All of us at Nine9 wish you well in your future endeavors and hope you find great success.

Pros

Easy job, literally anyone could do it. I was the receptionist and was doing way more than any of my co-workers. So much so, that clients STILL reach out to me from the company. Steady paycheck Solid hours Small Office

Cons

Management and talent specialists don't do their job Management will fire you at any given second without a second care No benefits or they don't share them with you Fake casting company...it is a scam because people are paying for a service they are NOT receiving at all and you realize this when you work there. Bad Co-workers, everyone is stuck up with an attitude and their breath stinks No protection. There was an incident where a guy took people under hostage and management expected you to be at work the next day.

Hi and thanks for taking the time to leave us a review about how you felt your employment with us went. We're sorry to hear that we left on bad terms and it seems there is some feedback here we can use or speak to based on what you've shared. We do feel that since you left this review we've greatly improved our customer service although you should have been referring someone reaching out to you to our customer service team at the Nine9 corporate office. I personally work right next to our CS team and I can say they help people every single day when talent reach out to us. We see this as an opportunity to follow up with our receptionists and make sure they're trained to take the proper action that results in the best experience. We're a company that believes on leaving our door open to feedback. If you were unhappy, it's unfortunate to hear that you weren't encouraged to reach out to our leadership team at the corporate office. I would be more than happy to make sure our leadership team hears all of your thoughts and am available anytime at jeremy.smith@nine9.com. If someone wasn't performing to the best of their ability, we would have loved to have heard about this from you. I can understand that getting let go is never easy and I'm personally very sorry that you felt you weren't given a second chance. Everyone deserves the chance to perform at their best and if you weren't given that opportunity, we certainly should do better in that regard. As some of the other reviewers and yourself have stated, you felt that we weren't providing the level of service to our talent that we should have. I've identified that this trend came down to a lack of training and deep understanding of what our Castings Department does. We'll be taking the time to reach out to all of our offices and make sure they're given in-depth training on our casting process. We can assure you and our talent that we're providing an excellent service and always work very hard to ensure our talent are receiving valuable training and opportunities. As a company that has been around for 15 years, there is little reason anyone should ever refer to us as a scam so it's unfortunate to hear a former employee had this incorrect viewpoint about what we do. We do take security very seriously. We want all of our employees to feel safe at all times and will continue to work to make sure that we've taken the proper steps to create the best environment possible. Race does not dictate what roles our talent are submitted to. Again, we do feel that you should have been trained on how casting works within this industry. If there was a specific requirement regarding race or ethnicity associated with a casting, the talent that met those requirements from the casting director were absolutely submitted. As for any roles that don't specify race, we do need to adhere to other guidelines such as age, height, or build but our team would never discriminate against someone based on their race and we believe that equal opportunities should be given to everyone. In the past two years since you reviewed us, we feel that the overall quality of our photography within our offices has improved and we will continue to train our staff throughout the year to make that quality even better than ever. We're also very happy with the professional photographers we work with. Yes, there is a cost associated with professional photography but if you want to hire a professional it will cost you for their time and work no matter where you go. The professionals we work with are industry-experience and well known for their exceptional work. We work with every photographer to acquire discounted rates and have different packages available. Stating that these packages are $800 is incorrect and we would be happy to share all the photography packages and their cost to anyone at request. Again, I'm open to sharing additional feedback with our leadership team and would be more than happy to go into greater detail in any aspect of your review. All of us here at Nine9 hope that you are doing well and have found the best career for you. Your feedback has all been taken to heart and we wish you an amazing week! - Jeremy

Pros

First off, the company is not a scam. Being associated with an "Agency" can come off as misleading but in reality, Nine 9 is casting company that provides a service to new faces getting into the entertainment industry. Of course there are other options instead of paying money to get started but not everyone has access to those sources. I've had talents who reluctantly signed just to get new opportunities and gigs they never had access to before. At the same time, just because you signed on doesn't mean you automatically become famous. Theres still a process to get started and talents who don't take advantage of our services are the ones that wasted their money. Regardless, the opportunities and network are there, just that this one comes with a fee. Anyways, working here has been one of the most enjoyable jobs I've had. Although, it all comes down to who your Office Director and coworkers are. But most of the benefits are: - Flexible hours, as long as you communicate it's pretty easy to get time off whenever you need. - Cool, studio, office vibe. - Absolutely adore my Office Director and coworkers, makes the work day fun and stress-free. Everyone looks out for each other. - Dress code is fashionable and you get to talk about entertainment all day. - Room to grow, the company is big on inside growth. If you're looking to move up, let management know and they'll get that process started. (If you're good at your current job of course haha) - You meet all sorts of interesting industry people

Cons

Given the majority of negative reviews, you will have to deal with aggressive people who accuse the company of being a scam. You just have to reiterate what the company does and that it's not an actually agency that takes commission. - Long hours. Days with both appointments and open call can be draining from talking to people all day, non-stop. Plus working weekends. - Pay. I've noticed there is a big turnover rate with employees. The pay is min. wage vs commission. During those slow weeks, it's hard to make any money with a full staff, especially working in a smaller office. It can be discouraging to have an incentive to stay when the money is so inconsistent while working such long hours. - No real benefits
