Pros

Coworkers are fun, you get a $30 gift card to the gift store every year, small hospital with a community feel which allows us all to get to know each other.

Cons

Lack of clearly defined roles so often times staff members are voluntold to wear different hats which leads to burn out. Have a manager at the office at all times for communication and support.

Overworked and Underpaid through pandemic

Pros

Decent benefits (especially coming from having county benefits for so long). Clean and (physically) safe environment. Learned a lot (a lot from coworkers and self teaching, don’t expect much formal training though).

Cons

They expect you to do so much, as through the pandemic they’ve been consistently short staffed. But rather than you getting a raise due to doing the job of two, three, or four people, you’re just told your an integral part of the team……until layoff season. Company culture has turned toxic in last few years with changes in upper leadership. Definitely no longer embodying “compassionate care, close to home” as a bunch of things are being outsourced/contracted out to different telehealth agencies. Don’t expect much recognition or appreciation for your efforts from upper leadership, though lower in ranks management can be fantastic—but keep in mind they don’t really have much say in a lot of things.

Pros

-Pay is comparable to other hospitals in the area

Cons

-Self-scheduling, it is nice until they flex you. PTO denials happen often due to staffing. The Leads of the unit do the schedule which leads to conflict of interest and favoritism. Staffing does not make the schedule like everywhere else. -If you call out sick, you HAVE to text the manager why you're calling out sick (and they hide this illegal practice by calling it "covid" triage). HR is aware and they do not care. -Chronically short-staffed, high turnover rate -Opportunities to move into other specialities or days shifts is difficult. -There is no union here yet management always speaks about "seniority" when they show preference to there staff members. -Unsafe high acuity assignments -Missed breaks, missed meals happen often. -No pension -Recent changes to the 403 (b) retirement plan which are not good.
