Pros

IT Experience. Education Assistance - ~$1,500/year. 401k vested immediately.

Cons

Poor growth potential. Leadership that lies (when dealing with salaries/raises). No humanitarian hours (hours to volunteer in community).

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! It is important for us to hear what we are doing well and what we need to improve upon. Professional development is important to us and that is why we offer an education reimbursement program, as well as a learning management system that offers free access to thousands of courses, including courses to help with IT certifications such as Red Hat, ITIL, Agile, and more. We're sorry to hear your experience was not positive when it came to growth potential and pay. We strive to offer competitive salaries based on position, market, and contract. In addition to competitive salaries, we offer a comprehensive compensation package that includes comprehensive health insurance, retirement benefits, and paid time off. However, we understand everyone's experience is different and if you would like to discuss your experience further, please reach out to communication@obxtek.com.

Pros

Generally friendly atmosphere that is fairly laid back so long as one is doing their job in a timely fashion. Flexible when it comes to family matters and willing to let employees take time for their families.

Cons

Location for HQ is in a terrible building with frequent maintenance issues and terrible environmental control leading to terrible air quality in the building. Granted this is outside of the company's control, but something anyone who might work at their corporate HQ should be aware of. Advancement opportunities for non-technical workers on contracts feels limited.

Pros

Company seems intent on growing

Cons

I can't speak for the entire company but the team I work with had the following concerns. Management tends to bully Jr staff. Admonishes staff in front of other staff instead of in private. Sorely lacks in proper training and providing proper materials. The location of the materials are hard to find and read and understand. People that do the training are hard to understand and do not have any patience. Does not allow for questions instead you get a response of "I already answered that question" or "What does the manual say". Company allows for nepotism and the results are why you should not. Certain staff are treated differently then the rest of the team. Management at one point admitted to me that another manager was a terrible manager but he needed to keep him/her around because of her job experience. Company is so petty, they actually call a Doctor's office to confirm that a medical excuse is legit. Company relies on federal contracts and goes to all extremes in kissing up to the key federal employees to try to ensure that re-compete contracts are kept. In other words management claims to have a safety mission but in reality there only mission is to retain federal contracts.

Thank you for your feedback. We regret that your employment with the company was not a positive experience. We are taking your feedback into consideration and using it to improve the training we provide to our mid-level managers. Also, we have an open-door policy set up for employees to provide feedback to senior level managers when employees feel that they are not treated according to our policies. Lastly, we are doing a better job of outlining our individual training program with the expansion of our program management office. We realize that it will take time to improve in the areas you mentioned but are committed to continuous improvement in our operations and management. --VP of HR
