Pros

Small companies that grow to large (by fed gov standards) in such a short period of time are pretty rare. OBXtek is one of those rare ones. Having been around fed contracting for nearly 20 years I've never seen a place where people can grow as fast as they do at OBXtek. in the past three years I have seen business analysts become project managers and I have seen project managers become VP's.

Cons

The Pro comment has to to clarified with a note that OBXtek managers don't always (or ever) have a plan for you besides whatever you're working on this week. The HR and other corporate people never seem to be totally on top of anything. That being said the HR people are way, way more professional now than when I first started.

Great Company To Work For!

Pros

OBXtek is a great company to work for. They started out as a very small service disabled-veteran owned company and have grown immensely in the past 5 years - specifically due to a very successful contract with the Department of State. Unfortunately, this lead to some growing pains (which have been mentioned in past reviews of this company). OBXtek has since figured out how to function better as a larger company and has very capable and enthusiastic employees at headquarters. The company also has excellent benefits and a great company culture.

Cons

As with most government contracting companies, there is a disconnect between the employees on the clients' sites and the Project Managers/HR/Finance teams at headquarters. However, the PMs have recently made an effort to be available more often and to make weekly visits on site.
