Pros

Generally hands off management style

Cons

Will do whatever it takes to squeeze as large of a profit as possible from your contract, including low-balling on salary, despite what your home office requests/recommends based on a statement of work.

Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention. Competitive employee pay is very important to us and we do offer raises based on the project budget and individual performance. Please realize that there are limitations with the amount of salary increases as federal budgets shrink but I would be happy to personally review your situation. Please contact me directly to schedule a personal call on the matter. – Sharon Harrington, OBXtek’s Vice President, Human Resources.

Pros

Management and Human Resources is always communicating with contractors. I never felt "out of the loop" even when working off-site. My Program Manager issued consistent office hours where I could contact them and speak candidly about any challenges I was experiencing either personally or professionally. Even during a turbulent time for our contract, my Program Manager was always available for questions, concerns, and reassurance. I never felt forgotten or left behind. The transparency within this company is fantastic. Surprisingly, despite the constant communication from overhead, management never felt overbearing. I never felt micromanaged or viewed with condescension. When first offered a position with OBXtek, the recruiter offered me MORE than my salary requirement; which was a huge surprise. I cannot recommend this company enough.

Cons

Any "cons" I can think of more so have to do with the particular contract I was a part of than OBXtek as a company. I cannot think of a single thing to complain about. I very much enjoyed my employment with OBXtek.
