Thank you for your recommendation! We are glad that you feel that OU Medicine is conducive to a healthy lifestyle for you and your family. Since we became a not-for-profit health care organization, we have been working on ensuring competitive compensation with the Oklahoma City market and making adjustments where necessary. Our primary focus is to ensure that our employees are compensated equitably and appropriate to market, and we are continuing to find new ways to increase employee satisfaction, such as the recent upgrade and addition of new benefits for 2019. We are proud of the strides we have made at OU Medicine over the last year, and the future looks even brighter as we aim to become not only the go-to healthcare provider in Oklahoma, but among the best in the nation. It’s a great time to be a part of our team and we are glad you continue to choose to be a part of our journey.

Pros

-Great Benefits and PTO offering

Cons

-Favoritism runs rampant @ OU Children's Hospital -People are prompted based on friends with bosses regardless of any experience history -Bosses hire individuals who have zero history in the field or experience at higher payrate (i.e. food clerk at a higher pay then coder) -When issues are brought up, they go into a black hole and then the higher ups pretend it never happened. -If you ask for a higher rate, they will throw 10x more work at you for $0.10 increase -If you ask for time off, even for surgery or pregnancy, they question everything about it -Too many cons to list

Thank you for taking the time to provide us your feedback. We are disappointed to hear that you wouldn’t recommend OU Medicine as an employer. The environment you described is not consistent with our culture or core values, nor does it fit within our Excel standard of professionalism. At all levels of leadership, we are committed to fostering an inclusive culture and reward outstanding achievement based on individual merit. We encourage our staff to report any issues or concerns they may have by contacting their leader, HR Business Partner or utilizing our Ethics & Compliance Hotline. We value your opinion as we strive to make OU Medicine not only a leader in patient care but also the premier healthcare employer in Oklahoma. We wish you personal and professional success in your future endeavors.

Pros

You get great experience with some of the sickest of the sick. Great learning environment. Great for handworkers. If you can work here for 2 years, you can handle anything else anywhere else. I had great coworkers who really understood teamwork.

Cons

Not great if you don't like to be moving a lot. Not competitive pay. New grads are getting paid more than experienced nurses. Promises made, but not kept. My unit manager has not figured out how to retain nurses yet, young and old. High turnover.

Thanks for your positive recommendation. We agree that OU Medicine is an organization where our health care providers have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience and knowledge that will benefit them for years to come. Since we divested from HCA in 2018 and became a non-profit healthcare organization, we have been working on ensuring competitive compensation with the Oklahoma City market and making adjustments as necessary. Our primary focus is to ensure that our employees are compensated equitably and appropriate to market, and we are continuing to find new ways to increase employee retention, including upgrading and adding new benefits for 2019. We feel that the future is bright at OU Medicine and we anticipate continued growth and improved service to our patients, employees and our community. We are thankful that you are part of our journey and wish you continued success.
