Worst CEO in the company

Pros

None, the CEO is a greedy POS. OK there are some good things about the company but thaey are all leftover from the Bruce & Dave CEO days. At one time the company was run in a way that treated employees with respect - long time & ex-employees will remember the compelling place to work, shop and invest tag lines. Now Steve Odland is showing what a one trick pony he is and basically did the same thing to ODP that he did to AZO - try to cut costs to improve profitability and the expense of employee morale and customer service.

Cons

Senior management - milking the company dry for their personal enrichment. CEO compensation 13 million while stock goes from $40's to sub $2 - what's wrong with that picture? Take away's over the years - employee stock options, employee stock grants (which initially replaced options then vanished) annual bonus program, annual merit raises, company 401K match etc. Despite the crash in shareholder value, declining sales and shuttered stores and distribution centers the company moved its head quarter from perfectly acceptable digs in Delray Beach Fl to a nre hundred million plus glory palace in the rich neighborhood of Boca Raton FL.

Pros

Full-time associates receive decent compensation, and the benefits are about average. The flexibility of scheduling is desirable (especially for those in school) and the respect for life outside of the Depot is appreciated.

Cons

The company's focus lately has been toward technology and computer sales. Although an important component to sales, the company's profitability has been eroded. Office products and furniture (the real profit-makers) have been put on the back-burner.
