Pros

Overall, the experience is good at OpenText and its subsidiaries if you have good direct management. There are no Pros here, it's just a job and good enough at that. Mainly commenting on Opentext company specifically. Diversity is getting better

Cons

- CEO against fully remote work - Health packages are well below industry average - Compensation below industry average - Culture WELL below industry average due to continuous acquisitions - Benefits and PTO below average - Promotion below average - Company hates spending money on their employees. STINGY would be a good word for this - Leadership at the C-level is alright. Mark and Muhi are the only one who provides a sense of vision and leadership, even then it's JUST their business vision that's great. They do not have the best interest in their employees and we are viewed as a corporate number. - You get your typical corporate experience

Worst “Tech” Company You Could Work For

Pros

If you work, you get a paycheck. Whether or not your peers invest any effort in the same does not matter, as you will still be paid the same as the bottom of the barrel employee.

Cons

-CEO advised he could hire a “click-farm” to raise Glassdoor rating reviews. Don’t let it fool you. -Constant Layoffs -Yearly “merit” increases hang at 1% or less. (Overall Inflation was up 5.6% in 2021, so you will continue to make less and less than you did the year before, regardless of effort or achievement in your work group.) -Acquire and Fire mentality. There is no innovation. Products come here to die. -If you can be replaced with someone cheaper, you will be—even if you received company awards and acknowledgement in the days and months before your termination. -Diversity = a team of white men who consistently speak (mow) over their female counter parts on a daily basis. -Unconscious Bias and Sexual Harassment training is only there to “check the box.” Women have been referred to with pet names in my presence. -The expectation is that you work until you die. - Flexible work arrangements are touted as possible, but are rare. The number crunchers in facilities over estimated the amount of office space required for employees, so there is a major push to return workers to the office. -“Keep your head down” is the mantra to ensure you don’t make the short list for termination.

Pros

Honestly other than some layup deals from existing customers that need additional functionality, can’t think of any

Cons

Where to begin…..No culture whatsoever. Management’s approach is “just close the deal” regardless of challenges. Company is comprised mostly of old on-prem software products that other (better) companies spun off. Almost all successful salespeople (<20%) are employees that came over from an acquisition and actually understand this stale, unnecessarily complicated software. I’ve been here for a couple years and haven’t seen any new employee last over 2 years, in fact most last 12-18 months max…..and for good reasons. OT can’t keep up with innovation and customer demand to move to the cloud. If/when you’re finally able to find a customer who wants this stuff, good luck selling it! The internal obstacles are truly unbelievable. In closing, if you’re considering this company - honest advice is don’t. You’ll get an average salary with a pretty much guaranteed below-average experience. The company is not well-regarded by customers, analysts, competitors- so you’re not even building your resume by working here. Go work for a company that cares for their employees, can keep up with the times in technology, and doesn’t foster a negative employee experience in virtually every aspect.
