Pros

OpenText is starving for managers and staff to step up and solve the problem, innovate, and work smarter. Such creativity is accepted and supported.

Cons

The review process involves top-grading, but the compensation and technology is not competitive in the market and therefor does not attract the talent. Line-work is shipped outside of the US wherever possible. Remote work productivity is not recognized as equal to in-office. "Successful" evaluations are rewarded with merit increases equal to half the rate of normal inflation.

Pros

I worked with the most intelligent and creative software development team, most of which will remain forever friends. Camaraderie

Cons

If you like dodging bullets ALL THE TIME, this company is ideal for you as they acquire other companies on a regular basis. If you enjoy seeing your coworkers laid off due to new company acquisitions, I highly suggest you work here. If you want to be told you can move to Canada or lose your job, this is the company for you. If you want to hear all about how transparent upper management is and then see nothing but muddy waters, I suggest you work here. If you like seeing MASS layoffs, including your manager and entire team, this is the place for you. If you like work parties, such as annual holiday parties, you can hear all about the luxurious parties held in Waterloo and Ottawa, while the budget for your office dwindles each year until it’s nothing, this is the place for you. If you enjoy knowing the company’s revenue exceeds billions of dollars yet are okay with also knowing they closed 60 offices (can you say “mass layoff?”), then this is the company for you. If you are a diligent, hardworking employee with anywhere from 17-25 years working for the same company and are fine without any rewards for loyalty, merit pay increases, but instead are forced to take 5% or 10% pay cuts, see your benefits decrease but pay more, then this is probably the ideal spot for you. If you welcome the phone call from a complete stranger that begins with “due to a company reorganization,” and don’t mind the layoff, this is your ideal company. And, finally, if you want a layoff the day before your divorce is final, this is most DEFINITELY the place you want to work.

Pros

-Working from home is an option. -Treatment is only fair should you close a deal.

Cons

-Fear oriented selling environment -Bullying tactics used by management on sales representatives -Negative working environment -Team meetings are used to point out flaws of sales representatives documentation within the CRM, rather than strategic, constructive discussions -Micromanagement x100 -High turnover rate, due to poor leadership and dictator environment -No encouragement, you close a deal - you get asked what's next rather than thanked for your hard work. -Work life balance is minimal due to the anxious environment -Managers have been reported to HR for bullying behavior, no action has been taken -Managers accuse reps of being dishonest, no trust -It is a CYA environment, and competitive environment within your own team, this comes from leadership. -It is a company wide understanding that there is a toxic environment within the sales organization, please think twice as you are considering a position at this company. Good folks are leaving, there is a reason you are being recruited and all of these job openings are here.
