Directionless

Pros

None that I can think of

Cons

The management is directionless. The only goal is to increase yearly revenue to a number. That is done through acquisitions. No R&D whatsoever to speak off. Management wants to milk the legacy products that come through acquisitions. No value for employees. Regular layoffs. No one has any powers other than the CEO. Even a $300 expense has to be approves by EVP.

Pros

Excellent benefits; excellent people when they stay; fast expense reimbursement; a lot of vacation time; closed Christmas to New Years; autonomous travel flexibility.

Cons

Poor Sales Managment at the director and SVP levels; treats experienced Enterprise Account Executives poorly; constant SVP turnover. I have been with Opentext for many years and have seen 5 SVP's for NA in the past 3.5 years. Sales Directors constantly being pushed to close deals that are not ready to close and forcing customers meetings from the VP's to get it done. Continuous account shuffling even with long term, continuously buying customers. SAP relationship has been in jeopardy for the past couple of years and virtually no relationship with Microsoft or Oracle. Few new solutions and constant product naming has confused customers with existing solutions questioning their investment. Maintenance division requires uplift every year causing long term customers to reconsider future purchases. Severely dysfunctional cloud team with poor execution skills and outdated technology that does not meet the solutions hardware requirements. Minimal innovation, creating solutions that have little customer interest but to please the analysts. Solution Consultants are few as they continuously leave Opentext leaving the Account Executives without resources when needed. Heavy shortage of Professional Services people to actually implement solutions as they have also left Opentext.

Pros

The people that you work with are some of the smartest individuals in the business at non-management level. If they don't know the answer, they will find out soon enough.

Cons

Unreasonable expectations in workload. 5% reduction in staff equated to 300% increase in support work with them removing some of the elder support people that knew legacy systems and softwares.
