You have the opportunity to work on large complex systems. You have the chance to gain experience design systems that will scale.
Cons
Promotions are inconsistent among groups. Some VPs have strict promotion policies which means people don't get promoted more than once a year, whilst other VPs allow quicker career advancement. The development environment can be quiet hectic and a lot of time can be wasted putting out fires. This will vary depending on teams. Beware the team you join. Some teams afford more opportunities for exploring new technologies whereas these putting out fires teams while sink people into quagmires where they won't have enough time to do anything.
