Pros

having a job is good

Cons

-system of reporting racism and harassment is broken (pre march 2021, it was). ohsu is more concerned about appearing diverse and inclusive on the outside, but without repairing its deep financial fissures, this is just for show. have personally witnessed harassment and the process for dealing with it and IT IS BROKEN. -extremely low pay. especially for the west coast. -understaffed. many administrative persons are stretched ridiculously thin and are unable to adequately perform their positions. -serious financial issues -benefits. insurance for anyone outside of the OHSU PPO is terrible. have had multiple issues and improper billing that i've had to go head to head with insurance company with. -poor communication. see above- administrative staff stretched thin. responses to inquiries about your benefits, compensation, etc...don't expect a timely response. -out of sight, out of mind. if you work off campus, you will be utterly forgotten about. -bigwigs who bring in money to the university will go about their business completely unchecked

Pros

The people at OHSU genuinely want to do the right thing, especially for patients.

Cons

Lack of strategic leadership and conflict at the highest levels leads to regular turnover, restructuring, and financial uncertainty.

Yet another case of good workplace, but bad management

Pros

- Benefits are somewhat ok. If Union was not part of some of the roles, employees won't get any increase in pay - Employees have good working relationship and for the most part do care about the work that they do

Cons

- No room for improvement and career advancement - Most managers in IT focuses on themselves on how they can move up or leave the company, than enrich and motivate their employees - The above leads to NO reward, NO compensation, and NO movement - 1:1 meetings are a joke, again focusing on work and what management wants, rather than how an individual can actually GROW - Management keeps stating to try again, you are not doing good enough. Asks if you add VALUE over and over like a broken record - Basically, a dead end job. Preach about culture and inclusion, but does not comprehend its real meaning
