-Constant gaslighting from upper management. -Profits over people mentality. For instance, they tweaked the algorithm, so tutors get fewer hours and are expected to work with five students simultaneously. -The way the company sells itself to schools is dishonest. They market it as "one-on-one tutoring" when, as I mentioned above, it's more like five students and one tutor. -Mass firings anytime the voice of labor gets a little too loud in the slack. In May 2022, they fired many prominent tutors. The company lied and said it was due to performance, but mere weeks prior, many of the fired tutors had been promoted to prestigious full-time positions. -Condescending training modules. Definitely tutor here if you want to be talked to like a child when you're actually an adult with a degree. -Next to no managerial support. Most tutor managers have 100+ tutors on their "team." It's impossible to receive support and become better at your job. -Absurd and arbitrary changes to the role. Don't be surprised if the job you were hired to do has completely changed three months after you start. Their latest brainchild was making it, so tutors are expected to work with students outside their subject area. -Unattainable metrics. They expect you to respond to students in a certain time frame, which is impossible to meet when you have five students in your classroom. -Tying bonuses to "total activities," which is the cumulative sum of essays reviewed + live classroom sessions. Tutors cannot control how many students visit the platform, so it's absurd to tie bonuses to this metric.

- Pay is low for jobs in similar roles. 4 hours/week of work is expected to be the new norm - Lied to school districts about 1-to-1 tutoring. A tutor often needs to help 3-4 students at the same time. - Also lied about tutors being experts in the subject area. That is not always the case. Tutors are now expected to cover subjects they have no expertise in. (In a recent training, tutors are told to "Google the answers" when they help students in unfamiliar subjects). - Culture of fear. I was SO scared to voice my concerns; tutors who spoke up about important issues (i.e., pay discrepancy between U.S. and Canadian tutors) all got fired. - Tutor managers get replaced fast; impossible for tutors to build a meaningful bond with their manager. - Fake positivity. It's exhausting to see that while company keeps silencing their employees and being not transparent about the real issues
