Pros

Business is built on a solid model with high growth continuing to be realized. Strong culture, genuine commitment to DEI, just good people you want to work alongside The end product is something we all believe in— we’re helping promote better health

Cons

Private Equity owned so always the concern of being sold off. Everything always feels rushed and behind Executives seem to think they overpay lower levels but the market seems to tell us that’s not true. Lots of people leave the company only to come back a year or two later at much higher pay.

Pros

Backed by Private Equity owners who have demonstrable faith in the company’s strategic plan PatientPoint is an evolving organization that continues to grow at an impressive rate. The history of the company is interesting in that present-day PatientPoint is a combination of the three largest ‘Point of Care’ players (Outcome Health, Accent Health) which have progressively merged into a single entity over the last six years. This now positions PatientPoint as the market leader in the healthcare space with one of the largest private digital signage networks in the world. Leveraging the relationships that PatientPoint has with clinicians and healthcare providers we are continuing to build solutions that drive value to patients by improving their interactions with physicians and their overall healthcare journey. Having joined the company in the middle of the pandemic with responsibility for the Software Engineering function I’ve been grateful for the culture and collaboration that is innate to the company. Merging organizations (and their technology stacks) is rarely frictionless and we have been doing so with a close eye to the future growth of the company. Heavyweight ‘Enterprise IT’ strategies have given way to more nimble agile development built around contemporary event-driven architectures that connect microservices which streamline our business processes. PatientPoint is an operationally complex company that punches well above its weight class in terms of the logistical challenges that it must navigate on a daily basis and the expanded investment in technology has begun to yield demonstrable business results. This investment has led to us grow a robust Engineering organization, headquartered in Chicago and Cincinnati but distributed nationally, that is delivering solutions for internal and external customers at an accelerated rate. The challenges are various at PatientPoint. As a developer here you can experience elements of B2B, B2C and direct consumer facing application development, all under the same roof. Furthermore you’ll be doing it alongside talented people in service of a goal of improving the healthcare experience of millions of people. What I find most gratifying about working at PatientPoint is the extent to which all of our challenges are tractable and readily yield to the efforts of the technical teams. The direct impact of the software organization is felt throughout the business.

Cons

PatientPoint is not without its challenges and contradictions. It’s rare to find yourself working for a 30 year old, profitable, growing company which is also enjoying its second adolescence as a technology-enabled product company. We have award-winning content teams and the most effective sales staff in the business who constantly challenge us to provide new value for our customers. In the last few years we have successfully pivoted from being a sales-led to a product-management-led company where our roadmap is concerned (a maturation that all successful companies must make sooner or later as we distill individual needs into broadly marketable solutions.)

Pros

- Management is super respectful of personal time - Benefits are top notch - Cincinnati office is great - The culture is employee focused - Hybrid schedule - Lots of stability and very little churn

Cons

- I wish that there was some sort of gym program - It would be nice if there was more flexibility with holidays. Observing Jewish holidays is tough with only two floating holidays (that's my only reason for not doing more stars for DEI, knowing a lot of minority religious people I think this is kinda a big deal) - With the emphasis on employee growth it would be nice if there were some kind of education reimbursement available
