Pros
Good daytime hours and some benefits
Cons
Worked as a forklift driver for only 3 weeks before I went running. 24 years of experience on forklift and safety did not prepare me for what was to come. All drivers run full speed with full loads in tight areas. They do honk their horns, but with everyone honking , you don't know where it's coming from. Everyone thinks they have the right of way. No acknowledgement of other drivers. Floors are covered with rubber from the tires skidding and spinning. Many times a day I would be involved in near-misses, frequently losing my load with no cleanup help. Was told by my trainer to "pick up the pace". I told the trainer that where I came from, they all would have been investigated or terminated in 1 day. Left after only 3 weeks fearing injury.
