Pros

the insurance was the best reason to work here. They are changing that as of the new year so it will no longer be obtainable by hourly employees. I havent had any trouble getting time off for my family when i needed it but others have.

Cons

Upper management makes promotions depending on who they like not the ability of the employee People in same positions are treated differently

Pros

Best reason for working for Pilot is that it does give you experience in working with retail. Many times it's the only real opportunity for work in some areas of the country Pilot services

Cons

Long hours. Upper management (regional and up) are made up of people who would not be able to successfully run a center as they are asking it to be run. Manager's 3 year turnover expectation (Pilot expect to burn out it's managers and turn them over every 3 years). Move up or out culture (4 years). A CEO who has a terrible god complex.

Pros

The location is great. Opportunity for advancement is good and most co-workers are friendly. Flexibility with schedule. Flying J provides free passes for mass transit.

Cons

There are multiple divisions and companies within Flying J, but many employees have NO idea what other departments or divisions do. There is little to no training, or orientation for new employees. The communication between the different companies under Flying J’s umbrella is appalling, it’s like they are competitors. You work for an oil conglomerate, so the better you do the more you help pollute the Earth. There is little research and development for alternative energy; or..... maybe there is, and I just don’t work for that department. Compensation is poor and the benefits are probably some of the worst in the country.
