Pros

The software is good - maybe the best in the industry. There are good people that work here - mostly those that actually do all the work. If you work at any of the offices, you have a good culture.

Cons

Where do I start? From leadership on down, you will experience a company that is unorganized, unethical and hoping to make a quick buck. They do not hold up on their side of their contracts and follow through on what they tell their customers they will do. They encourage their sales people to close contracts at all costs, even when operations cannot keep up or support stated contract terms. They consistently change their compensation agreements with their sales team and take their time to pay the bonuses/commission even if at all. You had better have an employment attorney look over your contract if you expect a timely and accurate paycheck. To make matters worse, any escalated complaints or requests are funneled up the chain through a network of "best friends" that run the company. The leadership routinely decides to not address very important items, rather to hide things from the board. This includes, but isn't limited to: major salary disputes, large compensation errors, mismanaged major client issues, and personal errors that have/may result in financial loss for the company. Company-wide morale is questionable at best. Responsibilities are often shifted and employees have no guideline as to performance expectations or goals. This is eventually used against them come compensation/review time. Operation teams are ill-prepared to handle basic data load and customer work. This can be attributed to mismanaged staffing/planning and the company's lack of willingness to invest in, and hire more operations people. Sales - Market and Regional oversight is shifted frequently and without warning amongst the sales team members and, subsequently, credit from one sales rep to another (even though they had no involvement in the sales process). It's very much a game of favorites. Said simply, sales reps sell a product and the aren't compensated for what they earn.

Thank you for the feedback. I’m happy to hear that you think our software is the best in the industry. You are right about the culture at PlanSource – the passion and talent of our employees is plentiful! Our high employee engagement and low employee turnover are just two examples of what sets us apart as an employer. We strive to provide an excellent employee experience for all our employees. This is evidenced in the high employee engagement survey scores we continue to earn year after year. Also, as you may recall, PlanSource was named one of the Orlando Sentinel's Top 100 Companies 6 years in a row. I am disappointed to hear of some of your experiences. At PlanSource, we are committed to providing the best customer service to our clients. The best indicator that our clients are happy is when they continue to renew their relationship with us and when they recommend our products and services to others. We see this not only in our high renewal rate, but also in the fact that our clients consistently give us high feedback ratings most of the time, with the majority indicating they are “very satisfied.” As for our leadership and management, they consistently strive to act with honesty, fairness, and respect, furthering the company’s vision of unquestioned integrity. Accountability at all levels is a core part of our culture. This strengthens relationships across business and functions, and has earned us the trust of our clients, shareholders, and employees. Thank you again for sharing your opinions. We value and consider all feedback and use it to evaluate changes and make improvements throughout our organization.

Worst Time To Exist at PlanSource

Pros

Some flexibility depending on your management. Great software ideas. They’re equal opportunists in taking advantage of you. Some departments actually stand behind the values of the company.

Cons

You are at the mercy of oblivious management. The software value is greatly diminished because all who built it have left and it was never documented appropriately. So much turnover that it’s a miracle anything functions still. Office politics - you will never benefit. Demoralizing of full departments by enforcing metrics on awful data and too prideful leadership to hear otherwise. Some departments love to force employees to hide things in a burning closet to then demand an explanation why the closet is on fire. The entire CSuite has been flipped - they have no idea what the company does (through no fault of their own). Massive inconsistency between departments and their quality. Some departments actually care and work with their teams; others prefer to blame everyone else for their failures.

Pros

The system itself is pretty great, has a lot of features, robust capabilities, and integrations that make it a powerful piece of software, if it was properly utilized/understood. My team and those on my level were collaborative and supportive, my team lead was fantastic, and my manager was pretty good, not overbearing and let me do my thing without interference.

Cons

Unfortunately, when you got beyond that level (and even on that same managerial level in different divisions/departments) things fell apart. Leadership is hypocritical and either obfuscated our true financial health or just kept all the profits to themselves while shrugging and saying “welp, we didn’t do well enough to make sure you guys get your promised bonuses too sorry about that gotta take care of us first lolol”. My Director seemed petty and arrogant at their best and willfully malicious at their worst. Other senior leadership openly mocked the work of team members in team-wide chat rooms for what they thought was an incorrect setup when it was built to the client’s requests/specifications. That same senior leader had a habit of aggressively and erroneously asserting they knew the correct process and procedures without consulting subject matter experts or even being with the company very long because “that’s how (their previous company) did it”. Once we get to the C-Suite level, it has that feel that no one is actually doing anything but patting each other on the back for what they think is a good job. Town Halls are lip services rife with acronyms and buzzwords that the actual ground level employees care nothing about. The CEO likes to wax poetic in football metaphors while riding the coattails of his past success all while he just lines the Board’s and parent company’s pockets while he preps it for a sale. Here’s an analogy he can follow: PlanSource used to be like the New England Patriots dynasty, where it was near, if not THE top of its class year in and year out. Now it’s more akin to the Dallas Cowboys, pounding its chest and bloviating over wins that happened 30 years ago while deluding themselves that any shred of relevancy still exists. Our old CEO was humble, had vision, encouraged diversity, encouraged employee well-being and flexibility, and knew that a successful company started with successful and taken-care-of employees. Now, employees are treated as a means to an end; a class that is ground into dust with overwork, zero support, and ultimately cast aside when they physically/emotionally cannot endure any more. It is truly disappointing to see what this place has turned into, especially since I was one of the very few who remembered what it was and how good it used to be.
