Pros

I have worked for both Regence and Premera and while I love both, here are things I like about Premera: 1. The premiums are super affordable in contrast to our competitor and was a huge reason I switched. 2. The pay is higher 3. Internal promotions happen frequently and perhaps more so than Regence. 4. First call resolution is more important than volume of calls or call handle time. 5. You own the calls (at Regence sometimes I dreaded getting im's asking me to handle a prior member). Not having extensions allows us to own each call. 6. Premera Days -An amazing benefit. All you have to do is submit a story of how you helped a member or provider and can do this one a quarter. For every quarter you submit, you earn 4 hours of extra time off which is separate from your regular PTO and can only be used in the following two quarters. It can be used in increments of 4 or 8hrs only. If you complete all 4 quarters with a submission, you will earn an extra 8 hours which can be used any time the next calendar year. 7. Two floating holidays which don't come out of your pto bank. 8. Furniture stipend (it was $1800 when I was hired; now $500). 9. PYR raises 10. You can work from home if you're in Alaska and Washington state of course (this is our home plan area), Idaho (since Spokane is so close many people live there), Montana (not far from Spokane either), and Arizona plus Texas. Also Oregon as well.

Cons

1. I wish we had maybe one more company holiday such as MLK, Presidents Day, Juneteeth, Veterans Day, or Xmas Eve. The holidays currently observed are New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving & Black Friday (four day weekend - pretty standard), and Christmas. Sometimes they will give us an extra day depending on when the holidays fall. We used to have Xmas Eve off. The 401 k match is only half a percentage and up to 3%(?) whereas Regence was 6% and a full match. No annual bonus sharing on top of PYR like Regence does for hourly employees, but that's not a deal breaker. I'd rather have the cheaper premiuims.
