Pros

I had my own desk/cubicle.

Cons

Applied for and took test for insurance/coding position, had my CPC certification current, and was offered insurance/coding job. I accepted and the first day was put at a cubicle desk, given a headset and told I’d be taking customer calls for people to pay their bills. Huh? Great, bait and switch. Was told if any questions, just ask. That was a mistake. Got eye rolls and “now what?” when asked a 2nd question. Coworker took call from a client that did not pay their bill, but when she got off the phone, she ripped on them for being on Medicaid, saying all us hard workers were the ones paying their bills. Uh, just so you know, I was on Medicaid while I worked for Promedica because I wasn’t offered any insurance, and I was quite offended when you were on your rant. Come down off your high horse; there are people that work and are on Medicaid. Said “hi” or “good morning” everyday to at least 10 people on the way to my desk... made it a little test every day because I noticed maybe 1 of those people replied. Everyone for themselves.

Pros

Benefits are outstanding. Pay is competitive.

Cons

Poor investment in physical plant. VERY poor upper level managers who are placed in positions based on degree level rather than experience in a particular business line. This has led to dependency on middle managers who may or may not act in the best interest of all employees. No oversight from VP level and above leading to bullying of middle managers to "make changes" even when they are not necessary. If it isn't broke, no need to fix it. Poor value of employees with longevity. No ones opinion is valued or matters unless you are a middle manager or higher. Too many layers of management. HR does not get the whole story in most situations and allows bullying and game playing. If they know you they believe you, without ever digging for the truth. Overall very poor employee morale unless you have a great immediate supervisor.

Pros

Decent medical, dental & vision benefits/premium. Promotes wellness for employees. Provides good work/life balance.

Cons

ETO (earned time off) has to be used for vacation, holidays & sick time off. Low pay raises, everyone receives the same raise regardless if you do a good job or you suck. Management needs a lot of grooming and education, preferably from an outside consulting company that has no ties to Promedica.
