Pros

I work with some good people that I have learned a lot from and had a few training opportunities. Most of the hourly workers will try to teach you if you put for the effort.

Cons

Trust nothing from anyone with the title manager in their job title. The will lie to you and against you. Don't be fooled by the powered by people stuff or how much family is important. They care only about the management team and those that will do anything to keep the management team happy. I feel like I have wasted years of my life at this company and I am working on leaving right now. Please don't make the same mistake. Most of the positive reviews on here come from the HR department and management trying to rise the companies scores on here because it looks bad when customers and potential employees look on here and see what's really going on at qts. I also like how they are having all these high level people responding to the reviews on here when they mostly have no idea what really goes on doing the day to day operations. I don't think the want to know is the bad part. They just keep listening to the lies they are fed. I can't wait to see what kind of blanketed company response this review will get.

QTS absolutely is powered by our people and we consider our employees a part of our family. But like any family, there will always be those who choose to look for the negative and refuse to take responsibility for improving their own situation. All of our best ideas come from our people, whether that is management or those 'behind the scenes." If you participated in the Big Idea Challenge, you should know this to be true. We had 90 QTSers step up and share some great and creative ideas ... and nearly half of those ideas are now being considered for implementation of some sort. And we choose to have our leaders respond to Glassdoor reviews because we take them seriously. I hope you are able to either take action to resolve your current situation, or find a better fit for yourself. Kevin Snead, Site Director - Richmond, VA

Pros

The coffee was good. Many things "look good", just don't dig too deep.

Cons

The company is very disorganized. Only those who are nice and docile get noticed. Safety and even company policies are suggestions rather than the rule. During my one year tenure at this company, no less than six times was the law clearly broken, for example, forbidding employees to talk about pay, bribing or threatening employees with pay deductions or incentives to keep things secret, operating powered industrial trucks without training, and using employee ignorance to try and get away with not paying out benefits upon exiting the company. This company's practice is to make everything "look good". Proper functionality, whether it be from building equipment like AC units, computer programs, or day-to-day operations, are all secondary. Telling their customers what they want to hear, regardless if it is true, is what this company does as rule. Communication, a primary result of the company's disorganization, is abysmal. The right hand never knows what the left is doing. Rework on projects is commonplace and as a result many sites are hemorrhaging money due to inefficiency. The only reason QTS's stock is doing well is because the data center market has yet to saturate. Once the market saturates and QTS has to compete, it will suffer greatly if not go under.

There are some broad and unsubstantiated allegations in this review. We take the management of our facilities and the care of our employees very seriously and are committed to ensuring the best possible experience for both our employees and customers. I’m sorry your time with QTS didn’t turn out to be successful, and I wish you luck in the future. David Murray VP, Facilities

Pros

You can earn an invaluable amount of knowledge in Networking Systems and VMware if you are a self starter. Also Free Coffee and Tea. Then take those skillls somewhere else for 30K more per year.

Cons

Good ole boy system with high nepotism. Company will not promote and retain highly intelligent skilled employees. QTS allows these valuable assets to take their knowledge elsewhere for 35% better compensation. Dont turn in a notice of resignation because you will be escorted out the door immediately. The HR department is comprised of 2 people and there is no equality in employee relations. Complaints are sent back to the source of the problem which is at the VP levels and no resolution or assistance to help the employee. Upper management has no clue about data center management. If you speak your mind you can just place an X on your chest and dont waste your time attempting to be promoted because it will be blocked by the Good Ole Boys and Gal. Yes One Gal.
