Pros

There are not many pros. The IT professionals from the IT manager and below are awesome! They are competent and work hard and eager to help in any way - with a few exceptions. True professionals.

Cons

There are so many cons. Managers and executives have no clue what-so-ever. Their internal documentation is THE worst documentation - EVER. It's virtually worthless. They provide a few lines about the features and have wire-frames in some cases. However, those wire-frames change when the development is done and no one bothers to communicate that. The few lines about the feature are often mis-interpreted so when they are coded and subsequently tested, the dev and tester are not on the same page. Qvc provides little to no training. That's ineffective but it is what is it is. How can they train personnel when they have no documentation with which to train? They set unrealistic goals and dates. They work in a scrum environment that is almost impossible to meet your goals because they try to pack too many features in to 3 weeks. Builds are rarely delivered on time because devs simply have too much coding to do. Those guys and gals are so over-worked. They overwork their test teams to catch up when builds are not available on time. Their internal politics are ridiculous. I cannot stress this enough! All companies have some form of internal politics. QVC's internal politics make other company's internal look like child play. If you make one mistake, they announce it to the world. The sky is falling, chicken little. The maturity level is of some is well - extremely immature. Guess they did not play in sandbox as children. It's really quite shameful when you consider most of the people there are professionals in every since of word. They allow a few to control the masses. These few should have been fired years ago. They enjoy controlling others. They produce turmoil and make mountains where a tiny mole hill exited. When you ask for help and guidance, they have none because they change their minds at the drop of hat. If you're contractor, good luck. You are completely dispensable to them. They have zero loyalty except to the few who cause the turmoil. if you need to use qvc as a stepping stone to get experience and you cannot find a job elsewhere, just beware. Unless you can work in the most chaotic, unorganized, back-stabbing environment, keep searching. If you do work their, good luck! Don't trust anyone and watch your back.

Pros

Attention to health programs such as rewards for walking, yearly check in with health professionals on site. Yearly mammograms and flu shots provided. Safe working area. Offering positions throughout the day and night.

Cons

I am sad of what is going on here on the fence of continuing my employment here. In the past year management has taken away almost everything that made me want to work here just a few years ago. They talk about trust. The only thing I trust is at each of our "monthly meetings" is that they will take away another perk of working this job. They talk about openness, The only way you can get your question addressed is to stand up in a meeting of half of the building and address your problems. IF THEY LET YOU. The last meeting they conveniently ran out of time before Q and A. If you do address your "concerns" then you have to worry about your job security because any of management can make a reason to immediately terminate you. My health insurance was raised dramatically this year. Where was the attention to this? Job security is a joke as I see so many people fired that have been there for years upon years, without warning

Pros

Benefits and semi ok pay below average but not the worst

Cons

Favoritism!! IT group changing constantly and seems like no direction Senior management have no experience in their roles. No advancement unless you are favored. They will keep you in the same position/title for YEARS. They rely and invest in contractors off site more than their own employees. If you want to advance in your career do not come here. The young people around here are dropping like flies... I just witnessed a co worker today resign with a 2 week notice - she was rushed out of the building within hours! But since she wasn't favored they did not let her stay or even send out an email notifying the team of her resignation, very sad and she was so good at her job! And the only reason she left was because they would not advance her and hired someone outside that didn't even have 1/2 of her experience. It was upsetting to several co workers.!she was more appreciated and valued by other teams she worked with. The people on her direct team never cared for her. So many people took it bad but she couldn't even say good bye properly. This was sad and I have lost so much trust in this place and the people. I'm on my way out next I can do better else where- I have another co worker who was demoted from a supervisor role because she left out on short term disability. She came back to no team and no direction. She's miserable and begging for work praying she can keep her job. Also she is not a favorite. She had a heartattack for pete's sake! I'm actively looking- real advice if you work in IT - run from this place
