Pros

Rain Bird is the world's largest manufacturer of irrigation products and services. Rain Bird hires very talented, self motivated employees. If you are looking for a challenging work envirnoment, Rain Bird might be a good fit. Rain Bird is a "green" industry company focused on water conservation (The Intellegent Use Of Water). Rain Bird offers good a overall compensation package.

Cons

Very difficult work environment at Rain Bird. The employee turnover is way too high. The irrigation industry is full of ex-Rain Bird employees hell-bent on burying Rain Bird. Company has questionable HR practices and has a habit of forcing out older employees (over 50). Rain Bird Senior management is holding company back.

Pros

Steady paycheck until finding something better. Turnover creates ongoing openings for those willing to move to Mexico. Nice climate in desert. Great place to network since former employees now work throughout Tucson.

Cons

Turnover, turnover and more turnover. Management not allowed to hire unless employee clearly overqualified for open position, a very slow process. Once hired, resource kept in the dark regarding all business metrics and strategic plans. Management reactive with limited (if any) forward thinking; 1, 3, and 5 year plans not in place. Daily frustration as qualified co-workers leave, either encouraged to leave or forced out. Severance package non-existant for the unfortunate.

Pros

GREAT resources, wonderful opportunities to excel, strong support in pursuing objectives, with clear communication on expectations and goals. when you are on the top of the pile, it's great.

Cons

"you will have a better resume when you leave than when you came here" and "there is only one permanent employee" are indicative of how employees are valued and treated. A career at RB is measured in months, rarely years. You will have opportunities to excel, but beware the Career-Limiting-Moment. The numerous stories are true.
