Where good managers go to die

Pros

There are a few good folks in Bakersfield who really try to help the branches, but they are far outnumbered by arrogant, overpaid corporate hacks who treat branches like annoyances. Apparently it never occurred to these stiffs that their paychecks are paid by the sweat of the sales and operations people who toil 24/7 pumping sewage.

Cons

Garbage equipment, outdated IT systems, a horrible quote/CRM program, mountains of reports and paperwork, inadequate training at all levels, useless HR staff and policies, and the morally bankrupt Bakersfield clan mentioned above. It's no wonder branch management turnover is 30-50% per year. The managers who hang on typically worked their way up from installer or truck driver and don't know any better. Those who come from outside RFR quickly realize how much of a train wreck it is and quit or are forced out for not drinking the koolaid. My advice to anyone considering a managerial job in any RFR branch is KEEP LOOKING. YOU CAN DO BETTER.

Pros

Full time employment. Benefits and a lot of overtime.

Cons

Management is very indecisive. Opps manager has no experience in this type of work and will take credit for your work. Another employee that works in the shop is very abusive, will threaten to have you fired, and will tell lies about your work ethic all while riding the clock taking over time without doing any work. This person has had at least 2 people fired or takes credit for it and openly braggs about it. This person was also fired from another job for talking inappropriately towards women. Actually telling everyone that they work with about it. Unfortunately Management has tied themselves to this person for "his extensive knowledge of pumps" although he couldn't answer all questions about the pumps or the installation. Management was informed of a sewer over flow into a local lake/neighborhood because the bypass pump head was broken and it was ignored like it was routine. Instead of taking action to clean it up they turned their head away and said "I didn't see that" or tell the employee "don't send videos like that to the group work chat." Also be aware that this branch doesn't make the companies who rent their equipment sanitize after use. They only have them flush the pumps, tanks, and pipes with water from a fire hydrant. Also the paperwork and verbal request for the hepatitis C&B vacations went unanswered and was never given the vaccine that they are required to give employees. One employee said that being exposed to it will make your immune system stronger than a vaccine. "Like a kid that eats their boogers." An actual quote from a management team member. If you're on the job and you take a lunch break they expect you to eat your lunch while fusing used sewer pipe that was never sanitized from the previous job it was on. They actually shame you if you sit down and eat your lunch. Last thing is that the office manager makes more than the installer,a lot more.

Pros

Had managers that were excellent at removing internal barriers

Cons

Not all managers are excellent, so in some regions, there would have been lots of internal barriers to closing deals
