Pros

I’ve had a very positive experience working at Redwood Credit Union. What stands out most is the culture — people genuinely care about one another, about our members, and about the communities we serve. Leadership is thoughtful and transparent, and there’s a strong sense of shared purpose across the organization. RCU is also a financially strong and well‑managed credit union. Decisions are made with a long‑term mindset and a focus on member value. That stability creates confidence and allows the teams to focus on doing the right thing. One of the most meaningful parts of working here is the impact RCU has on the community. This isn’t just talk — the organization invests time and resources into financial education, nonprofit partnerships, and service initiatives that truly make a difference locally. Team members are encouraged to get involved, and there’s a real sense of pride in the work we do beyond the walls of the credit union. RCU also invests in our team members. Engagement is taken seriously, feedback is valued, and there’s a genuine effort to build strong teams and develop people over time. The culture is collaborative, inclusive, and grounded in values, which makes it a great place to grow a career. Overall, Redwood Credit Union is a mission‑driven organization with strong financial footing, committed leadership, and a culture that reflects its purpose. I’m proud to be part of it!

Pros

Best of the best employees and co-workers here. Most non executive employees are hard workers and want to do the right thing. Very helpful, polite and servant hearted. Working conditions are beautiful, clean. Community presence is strong and RCU is a well respected financial institution in the North Bay.

Cons

The pay is very low - almost below market for most. I remember being turned down for trying to pay a new hire .10 cents more per hour. This CU was lauded for having the highest ROI in the nation out of all CU's - use that to pay your employees more. Efficiency ratio is applauded at about 50% which kills employees. The best ones are burnt out due to tons of manual, non-automated reporting and management by crisis. Lots of money is poured back to the non-profit and Membership but employees are often overlooked, underpaid, and not valued by executives. There is an extreme focus on being "perfect" and never tarnishing the brand.

Hostile aggressive CEO

Pros

Benefits if you don't have a family and staff.

Cons

Executive team is lead by a negative leader. He is pretty much a tyrant. He is agrssive negative and doesn't respect front managers. The SVP/branches is afraid to stick up to him. The executive leader is unaware of what's happening in the company and micromanages many things that CEOs don't normally get involved in. As a leader are not able to make decisions to Run your own business or dept and they don't take your advice. CEO doesn't acknowledge his mistakes and blames others when things go wrong. You are told how to fill out internal surveys and if your truthful you get s low review score and are marked as disengaged.
