Pros

Very interesting learning environment. Fast paced and must be flexible with time management skills. Some good employees who do not mind assisting when needed in order to provide quality patient care. CEO and President made the work environment much better after setting forth policies and procedures and following through with there stated repecussion. When bad employees finally realized that they may lose their job after witnessing a few instances, it turned the bad employees into believers and many left Regional One Health which made it a much better work environment for remaining employees and for the patients and their families/caregiveers. Wellness programs (walking on crosswalk and WeightWatchers) and other lunch and learn seminars (ie, financial information) were also very helpful.

Cons

To many cliques among management and with some employees and if you are on the outside of their group, oh well, watch out. This occurs in every department throughout the medical center campus. Stay alert and be on the lookout! They will attempt to harass and intimidate you to force you to go along with their group or force you into leaving the hospital. Management includes higher level (executive) managers who are in cliques.

Pros

Patient load was manageable. The orientation of the unit was well organized and patient care materials and meds were easily accessible. Surround sight of the unit. Employee to patient ratio was more than acceptable. Nurses did not feel over worked. Patient care was important. Team and unit meetings were held on the floor and were not time consuming as to not take too much time away from patient care.

Cons

As with any hospital there were some employees that came just for the check and did not work as a team to help each other. The manager at the time had favorites, which is also a common problem anywhere you go.

Pros

We care for patients no matter their ability to pay. We have a Level One Trauma Center-the 2nd busiest in the country, a Level One Burn Center, Level One Newborn Critical Care Center, an excellent Women's Hospital with an OB/Gyn department which specializes in high risk pregnancies. In my trauma NP group, our MD supervisors have our backs. We are treated with respect and allowed to use our knowledge in our patient care practice.

Cons

More NP's needed. Trauma NP's coverTrauma ICU/Stepdown Unit 24/7, Trauma ED 24/7, 2 trauma floors and an NP clinic.
